    All grain

Agree 100%. I started with a 50l biab set up, apart from upgrading to 100l i have never seen the need to move on. Whilst the set up is different the process is the same, as is the result. Vs. 3 vessel i save time (during brew and tidying afterwards) plus money. C2000 bottles later i see no...

    Fermentation Fridge - Wanted

I wouldnt worry too much about the extra running cost of a large Fridge. Most of the time it will be at 16-20c, not a million miles from room temp. Therefore the fridge won't be running nearly as much as when it is maintaining 2-5c. I have a larder size one which i picked up on Freecycle -...

    Apple Scatter for Electric Drill

I did also think about making my own version of one of those shredder buckets - a length of threaded bar from wickes and a 8" strip of thin metal and you would be there.

    Apple Scatter for Electric Drill

It was me that posted regarding the plaster mixer, it really did work well. Took about 15-20 mins to process a big flexibucket full. If you are anywhere near Reigate, Surrey, i would be happy to loan you mine. A buddy of mine who runs an engineering firm did the sharpening. I reckon i...

    Plaster mixer and spin dryer!

We did think we might call the resulting brew Knicker Bocker Glory, think i'd prefer a little bit of kicker and bra aroma to the proverbial dead rat.

    Plaster mixer and spin dryer!

Hey guys Just wanted to share yesterdays great experience. A buddy of mine has a few apple trees, we had been talking about making a batch of cider for a while but didnt fancy the cost of a scratter and press. Instead, bought a plaster mixer from screwfix for £5. Sharpened the...

Czech Pilsner kind off BIAB AG

Hey Beercat Solution may be to try brewing a Kolsch. It is a German beer, from Cologne, that looks and tastes very much like a lager, but is fermented at ale temperatures. Whitelabs do a Kolsch yeast.

    Excessive cold break in fermenter

Do you harvest yeast, if so does the large amount of break material in fv give you any problems?. I imagine it makes yeast washing more tricky. Reason i ask is that i am a biab (e.g. LOTS of trub!) brewer, ive got a batch of wlp002 fermenting an esb at the moment, im planning to have a crack...
