    Ordering grain & supplies online?

HBC normally use recycled boxes, that is boxes that their stock has been delivered in. Compared to some others they can look a bit 'high mileage by the time they arrive, but haven't had anything lost or missing. Did have one issue with hops that weren't properly vac packed, but they sent...

    Ordering grain & supplies online?

What I do is buy my base malt in bulk from Brewers Select (13.33 for 25kg), collecting in person. I then use the likes of HBC for hops, yeast chemicals and speciality malt. This keeps me well below the 31kg threshold. The other good thing about HBC is that they use DPD to deliver ( as do malt...

Hi Jake Looks like there isn't enough interest to justify a group buy. Suggest, therefore you buy your grain requirements elsewhere. Will give you a shout if things change. Cheers Rob

    25kg malt £13.33

Hey Jake, I would buy 2 sacks as well, so we need another 6 sacks to minimum to make it viable. Fingers crossed that we get a few more takers.

    25kg malt £13.33

Hey Jake They do a pretty full range, lager, ale, Maris otter, crystal, vienna etc bothboth cru and unrushed. I've used the crushed pale malt and lager malt, have found both to be fine. Suggest you have a look at the brewers select website and see if anything takes your fancy. You are...

    25kg malt £13.33

Hey guys. I used to travel up to Leeds fairly regularly with work, and stop off at Brewers select in Peterborough on the way, to buy a couple of sacks of malt. The price varies but is typically around £13/sack. Unfortunately I no longer have a work reason for the journey. They do deliver...

I have a few empty ones you could have, not sure how many, but must be over a dozen. Only catch is you would have to get to Reigate... Let me know if you want them and I'll dig em out and confirm quantities etc.

    Half Price Brand New Grainfather

Whether or not they will go through the sale I can confirm they are definitely not a scam company. I have collected grain from them and they have a proper bricks and mortar warehouse, full of pallets of grain etc. They are nice people too, even carried my 2sacks of very cheap (£13) grain to...

    French beer

If you like Belgian beers, Chimay, Leffe, Duvel etc, you should see plenty in le hypermarche. I saw one, can't remember which, that was advertised as dry hopped with American hops. I did see a couple of small scale brewers selling bottles in farmers markets as well. Paris has a couple of...

    2014 Cascade £6 Kg 2014 Target £3.87 Kg + del (T90 pellets)

Hey Simon If you go ahead with this, I have a vacuum sealer, and plenty of spare bags. Let me know if that would be helpful, having said that if your butcher is only charging 25p per bag it might not be worth the trouble of doing it yourself. Think Beercats hops above might have been from me...

What's the most you've paid for a beer?

I'm sure you already know this if you visit the area regularly, but that corner of Kent was the birthplace of micropubs, such as the 39 steps. Take a look at www.micropubassociation.co.uk, and you'll see that all of the town's ( Deal, Ramsgate, Margate, Herne, whitstable...)along the coast have...

What's the most you've paid for a beer?

I think I inter railed the same summer, with the same live like king on peanuts experience. Only spent a night in Bucharest, in the way down through Romania to Istanbul that time, loved Prague and Bratislava. Also went to the Munich beer festival on that trip. Ah they were the days...

What's the most you've paid for a beer?

The cheapest I have ever come across was at a beer festival in Transylvania, in about 2002, the beer worked out about 12pence per 500ml. It was so cheap the local Romanians kept insisting on buying our beers, I hardly spent a penny. Mind you it must have been weak, I passed through the 20 beer...

    £10 worth of hops minimum?

My 'thrift IPA/APA' is a clone of Hit The Lights by Weird Beard. They kindly gave me the recipe. The reason it is thrifty is that, whilst it uses 210g of hops in a 19l brew, they are Aurora, Nugget and Target, all available for £2.50- £3.00 per 100g. It is a nice brew and with cml yeast...
