Help for a BIAB set up

Found this one too which is relatively similar with pictures. Need to wait for payday for the new pan so think I'm going to try one of these in the mean time ! http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=352

Help for a BIAB set up

Think this is the final question I have before I've got all the information. How easy is it to fit an element if you've got the holes pre drilled? Also if you choose to use the gas burner as opposed to the element one day (i.e. if i brewed outside )assume that's ruled out with the element...

Help for a BIAB set up

Found a really good demonstration of maxi BIAB. Think I'll give this a try while I debate between which kettle to go with. Thanks you've been really helpful!

Help for a BIAB set up

Thank you. This makes sense! I think I'll go with a 33l. In my extract brew we only make 14 or so litres of wort and dilute with ten litres of boiled water. Could I do a similar process with all grain? So use enough grain to get the required sugars out of the mash in the BIAB but only make...

Help for a BIAB set up

Thanks! So do you think I could get away with a 33 to do 20 - 23l? Could do what to do but then sparge the rest? Happy to get a 50l pot but concerned about it going on my cooker top. Sorry if these are stupid questions still trying to get my head around all grain!

Help for a BIAB set up

Sounds like there's plenty of room in there. Really want to get it right as I want this to be the last bit of equipment I buy for a while! Is this the same as what you ended up getting? https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=387

Help for a BIAB set up

Thanks David! I'd be really keen to hear how it goes with a 33l pot. How much grain did you use? Are you using a normal gas hob ?

Help for a BIAB set up

Hi there, I'm looking to move from an extract set up to all grain. I've been recommended trying boil in a bag mashing. I currently only have a 19l pot so to make a 20l batch I pre boil 10l of water, put it in the primary and then add the 14l wort after it has chilled. I want to continue...

flavouring an Apa In demi John

Thanks for the advice. Think we are just going to make a super strong apa and attempt to add in some mango flavours. We're in it for the long haul so plenty of time to do multiple flavours if we wish @

flavouring an Apa In demi John

I'm looking for some help on recipe suggestions. My friend and I are brewing our fifth and final extract brew before Investing in a mash tun and moving to all grain brewing. We are pretty confident in making a basic, nice tasting APA. We are now looking at flavouring the final batch. We were...

Dry hopping \ cold crashing in primary?

I'm having a mare here today! Instead of hole I meant hops! I've done the muslin bag before to dry hop but I've been told that can make them less effective. I've got a bottle with a sediment trap on it. In your opinion would this stop the dissolved hops? This is the bottling bucket I have ...

Dry hopping \ cold crashing in primary?

Thanks for the advice. When I transfer would you add the hole in loose or put in a muslin bag (overuled autotype this time!)? Just worried about the hole getting in to the bottles. We have a primary but our secondary is the one we bottle from as it has a tap at the bottom that we attach the...

Dry hopping \ cold crashing in primary?

Thanks for the advice Leon. Just to clarify my timeline: 1. Fermentation for 10 days. 2. Dry hop for 5 days. 3. Cold crash for 3 days. 4. Move to bottling bucket with Syphon, add sugar and bottle (all on same day) That would give it a total of 18 days in the primary. Does that sound ok?

Dry hopping \ cold crashing in primary?

Hi there, So my friend and I are half way through making our fourth American ale.it has been bubbling away nicely in the chest freezer for a week.we now need to decide our next step. Last time we transferred to a secondary after a week then I dry hopped in a Muslim bag for the last five...

Advice on silicon sealant / heat mat

I think it's the standard size. This is our secondary https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00XUONH4E/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 We also have a primary with a similar gromit. The tube fits in when we take the gromit out but it's not snug like with the airlock.

Advice on silicon sealant / heat mat

Hi there, So myself and my friend are set up on a chest freezer for our fermentation chamber. In order to ensure the fv fits we need to stop using airlocks and create a blow off tube with siphon cable. Tube fits loosely in the whole so we want to seal it with silicon sealant. Has anyone got...
