    Cheap 12L Cornies

Would someone mind measuring the height and diameter for me please? Trying to put together a keg set up. Unfortunately my fridge has room for only one 19l so I'm going to get this or a 9l one from Malt Miller

    C02 Gas in North London

Hi All, I wonder if someone in North London could tell me where they get their gas from for kegging? London Gases has quoted me £100 for 6.35kg and BOC £40 (but I have to pay a yearly membership of £40 on top). Thanks in advance!

Help Needed to set up Corny Keg System

Thanks for your message! I have a standard undercounter fridge I was planning on using. I'm not going to turn it into a kegorator as it's kept in the spare room so I'll likely bring the beer down to the living room when I have people over. Ideally I'd like to buy with the option of doing two...

Insulating a kettle to go on the hob

It's not my first brew, just my first with this new pot. We are doing our first Milk Stout. Previously done IPAs, Kolsch's, Wheat Beers and we are bottling a Belgian Abbey beer too today.

Insulating a kettle to go on the hob

Yup BIAB. Not concerned about the mash as I use my ACE Mash Tun for that. It's just boiling the wort. Fortunately it's got a temp dial on it so I could leave the lid on complete if needs be!

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Hi All, I'm brewing my first stout tomorrow. I have calculated that my alkalinity is 172ppm and calcium is 180ppm. I'm going to be making 23l so to remove 50ppm am I right in thinking I would need 0.25ml per litre so 5.75ml of CRS. I do not believe I need to alter the calcium. Am I right there...

Insulating a kettle to go on the hob

Hi All, My friend and I have just purchased the below kettle. I'm concerned about it's ability to reach a rolling boil on my standard gas cooker top. I was wondering whether it is safe to insulate it with this stuff? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also has anyone got a link to a how...

    Steps for freezing yeast:.advice needed

They're in the freezer now. Won't be using them for a while as its not something I brew often. I guess I'll know if it works when I build a starter from it. Going to keep practising as it costs very little and if it works will save alot!

So if I make it this week, store it in the fridge and make another starter in December then I should be ok?

Krausen Not Dropping On The Starter

I always assumed that you needed to wait till it dropped naturally before pitching. I shaked it in and then crashed. It's now fermenting away nicely!

    Storing Yeast In The Freezer

Hi All, So I have a liquid wheat beer yeast that goes off in a week but I'll not be brewing till the 20th of December. I was just wondering whether there is anyway of storing it in the freezer. I've read somewhere that I need glycerol (which I don't have). Can I get away with making a starter...

    London Beer Lab

I've bought DME from here and used it in my first few batches. I often still buy my grains here too. I'd recommend it. It's great for having a beer in and some of the staff there are incredibly knowledgeable and all are friendly!

Krausen Not Dropping On The Starter

Hi Steve, The starter is 1.4 litres. We will be making 20l of about 1.034 OG beer (a SMASH Idaho Table beer). Worried about off flavours if I pitch it. Isn't that a possibility? Never had krausen for anywhere near this length of time!

Krausen Not Dropping On The Starter

Hi All, So I'm building a yeast starter with WLP001 yeast. I pitched the yeast on Wednesday Morning and we're now on Friday evening and the Krausen hasn't dropped. I'm wondering what to do as I'd like to pitch it tomorrow afternoon and would like to crash it so I can take all the wort of the...

    Kolsch Recipe Help

I've just checked my grain store. Unfortunately as I've bought from maltmiller it's all pre packed (the munich mixed in with the chocolate and all of the german malt in the other bag). It hits everything on beersmith for a kolsch (bar SRM) and everything for a kellerbier. I've moved all of the...
