    Smart phone. [poll]

always on (vibrate) unless the battery runs out. used for pretty much everything from sat nav to internet to social media. Not often used for phoning... My only gripe is how hard it is to buy a new battery nowadays... most of my phones get replaced due to dwindling battery performance rather...

Is this the begging of the end for boxing in its current form

All contact sports should probably return to the amateur format. If people choose to play rugby, do boxing etc, they are aware what the risks are and can mitigate against them as much as they can. There could be an amount of sports fees that clubs have/collect in order to maximise the support...

A not-for-profit plumbing company in Burnley has earned worldwide attention

Good on him as an individual, however not sure it is really the solution to a problem is it? One bloke running up debts himself. Its surely another example of food bank type work becoming too mainstream, supporting people who shouldn't really need the support in the first place? 5 years ago...

Best Star SAN Alternative including all new Chemsan

Wasn't it a known party trick of the star san guy drinking the diluted form to show it was not harmful? rings a bell...

[POLL] Should Geoffrey Boycott have his knighthood revoked?

As an a side, if our country can have a PM like Boris Johnson and America can have a president like trump, I think Boycott can be a sir. In a perfect world, maybe none can be true but in the world as it is, I can think of worse people to be knighted!

[POLL] Should Geoffrey Boycott have his knighthood revoked?

I actually quite like him and consider him to be one of the best England cricket players of all time. If Andy Murray gets a knighthood for winning Wimbledon, they Boycott should have been knighted years ago. Of those saying if he played today etc, he faced some of the best bowling attacks in...

Around the world in 80 minutes... Ale

Thanks! I wasnt sure if i had gone mad or not. I think thats going to be the hard bit, especially with the sorachi ace, australian and new zealand hops as well. I was thinking if i keep flavour profiles similar then it might work rather than having a bit mish mash.

Around the world in 80 minutes... Ale

Hi Guys, Was bottling last night whilst having a couple of beers and thought about a round the world brew. Basically adding in a hop every 10 minutes for an 80 minute boil but in an order round the world... Why? I have no idea but seemed like it might make for some interesting flavours...

    Steve Smith.

That is not good to hear. I do think songs sung by groups of men have always been borderline appropriate and often these songs have been passed down. I am thinking about songs sung by rugby teams etc. Most of these songs/references are just a bit past it, in terms of appropriateness. I...

    Our health again.

Pretty much! I have now moved my desk so if I do need to use the lav, it is at least 20 steps away!

New brewer - thinking of trying BIAB on my second batch

I have been trying to do 2ol batches using 2 6L stock pots. Basically I mash a full grain amount in 16L of water, boil 2x5L and top up with the wort as it boils down. I then check the gravity and dilute to bring it down to the desired OG. both have come out bang on what I was looking for but...

    Our health again.

Its good advice but would suggest a lot of the older generation are actually quite good at doing stuff like this. Think gardening, walking etc. People always see exercise as down the gym but just walking around shopping with the wife (I act as the donkey) is pretty much the same when she gets...

Some different powders I might try...

Hi guys, just going through my cupboards and I have found a collection of powders and wondered if anyone had used any of the following in brews? Am I correct in thinking best to check there is no fat and also to add it post fermentation in order to maximise flavour transfer? I have...

does sugar have a use by date?

only slight risk is that the sugar could have taken on flavours if stored along side spices etc. Depends what you are using it for as to whether this will be a problem or not!
