    If it smelt like a farm yard, then I would say you are on track. Rack it off to something and let it clear, bottle it an wait....you just might get a surprise in a few months.

    This is probably caused by Tartaric Acid forming when the Wine is chilled, which then dissolves at room temperature.

    According to the temp gauge it varied slightly between 18-20c over that period. I have now racked it off into a Demijon with a bubbler just incase.

    I forgot to post the reading, it was 1.008 and its still going down so it did literally ferment in 36 hrs. 1.058 down to 1.008 ...wish I had more juice to start with.:lol:

    Its fair to say that it also contains Maltodextrin as well as Lactose. In a 25 litre brew I would use 500mg of Lactose and 250mg of Maltodextrin.

    Mackeson has been around for years, think it dates back to 1907 when it was brewed at the Mackeson Brewery in Hythe, Kent but I think they got bought out by Whitbreads in 1929. I think the Hythe Brewery finished in 1968. I'm not sure who brews it now but it is still available to buy in most...

    We had a glut of Pears this year so I decided to juice them, got around 7 litres of juice in the fermenter, added the usual Campden Tablet and a teaspoon of Pectolase + some Yeast Nutrient and left it for 36 hours then added 11g of Cider Yeast. Nothing for 24 hrs but on day 2 the bubbler was...
