    Suffolk water

Any brewers in Suffolk or similar hard water areas? Just wondering what you add to your tap water to improve lighter beers such as IPAs and pale ales? Not looking to use bottled water or RO, just hoping there’s some simple additions that I could ‘chuck in’ lol Our water here seems great for...

    Hydrometer??

I’ve just broken my hydrometer.... To be honest It was a cheap one so not too worried lol. I’d like to get a slightly better replacement (but don’t want to pay for a Stevenson Reeve!) Is there anything decent at a lower price than the SR??

    Crossmyloof Pale Yeast?

The pale ale yeast is fine for stout. I’ve used it in oatmeal stout and a few times in my Imperial Stout, both worked out just fine!

    Head retention issues!!!

I recently brewed a pale ale and all seemed to go ok. It’s now been in the bottle for about 6 weeks and I decided to try it last night. Plenty of fizz but no head at all. My glasses are clean and I never use detergent on them etc etc... I included wheat malt in the grist at approx 8% of the...

Anyone ever used a filter for reducing sediment in dry hopped beer (I’m thinking of filtering when racking to my bottling bucket)?

    Cold crash problem

Or set the fridge not so cold? I normally cold crash at about 4-6deg and seems to do the trick without freezing the beer

    Growing hops, windy garden?

Is it possible to grow decent hop plants in a windy garden? Most of the online guides I’ve read say choose a spot sheltered from the wind but my garden is often quite windy everywhere. Would I be able to grow dwarf varieties?

    Breakfast stout definition??

Having read that the champion beer of Britain this year is a ‘Breakfast Stout’ and also having seen KBS and other similar beers but never having drink one..... What is the definition of a Breakfast Stout? Is it just an oatmeal stout with chocolate and coffee? Also any good recipes that I could...

    1st brew attempt question

Of it’s bubbling following you adding the hops that may just be cO2 fizzing out of the beer due to the hop addition. Did you take a gravity reading at the start of fermentation (or before you added hops)?

    Imp stout carb problem?!

While understanding that oxidation generally is bad at bottling, if I’m going to add bottling yeast and the bottle then would a LITTLE O2 be a good idea to allow the yeast to work? I’d not intentionally add O2 to the beer and would pour gently to minimise glugging etc. I’m minded to give it a...

    Safbrew F2 ???

Anyone used safbrew F2 bottling yeast? Did it work out for you ok? We’re the dosage instructions if 3-7g/LH fairly accurate? Interested generally in your experience with it!

    Imp stout carb problem?!

Just opened the first bottle from a batch of IMP stout and it seems very under carbed..... It was batch primed as normal and bottled. Then kept warm for 2 weeks. I then put it in the chiller about 3 days ago..... Either it just needs another week or so in the chiller or the original yeast was...
