Upgrading to stainless steel conical fermenter - size recommendations please.

Thank you so much, I'm now convinced the 30l is the way to go, I'll be ordering a 30l fermenter from GeB this weekend, your down points are no issues for my setup, since I'm never going to stack, there's no carpet in my brew shed, no overhead cupboard to get in the way, and I've got an overhang...

Upgrading to stainless steel conical fermenter - size recommendations please.

I've just taken a look at the link you posted to the 30l fermenter on the GeB site, looks nice 👍, now £198.99

Upgrading to stainless steel conical fermenter - size recommendations please.

Thanks, that's just the kind of advice I was looking for, in all the years I've been brewing I've never had any incidents with my 30l plastic fermenters, my last brew the krausen went to about the 26l mark, so 26.5l capacity I guess is a bit close. Another thought I've had is to scale down my...

Upgrading to stainless steel conical fermenter - size recommendations please.

I'm lucky enough to have 2 fermentation fridges, one is a tall larder fridge, so no problem with size there, the other is an under counter fridge, so the larger fermenter probably wouldn't fit, but at this point since I'm only planning on buying one to start with size is not a problem.

Upgrading to stainless steel conical fermenter - size recommendations please.

After many happy years of all grain brewing, using 30l plastic fermenters I've decided to upgrade to a stainless steel conical fermenter. I typically brew 23l batches in my Brewzilla. So I'm after some advice, I've seen both 26.5l and 30l conical fermenters that look good, but can I get away...

    What else do I need?

Hi Tony, it’s the pickup from inside of the bin to feed the tap. Just standard 15mm pipe, flatten/closed off at the end, and then I drilled a load of small 1mm holes in the downward facing face - acts as a filter to stop hops getting into the FV. I’m lucky enough to have 3 levels in my brew...

    What else do I need?

Hi Tony, I built my rig some 5 years ago, using a 30 liter food grade plastic bin, using 2 Tesco Value kettle elements, a 1/4 turn ball valve and about 1/2 a meter of copper pipe. This rig has just clocked up 100 brews, using it as the HLT and the boiler, works just fine.

    Sterilisation of Bottles

I rinse a couple of times just after pouring, leave to dry upside down then store. A day or so before bottling I fill the dishwasher with bottles only plus a dishwasher tablet, once dry store in a covered box in my utility room, then on bottling day make up a starsan solution, immerse all the...

    What do you ferment in?

I use one very similar to this for storing my grain in, and the seal at the top is not great and the plastic is much more rigid/brittle than the fermentation bucket I use!

    Fermentation Fridge

I've got 2 fermentation fridges, different sizes and makes. In both I could only get the supply to the tubular heaters through the drain holes, so I just run the temperature sensor cable(which is fairly thin) through the door seal to my STC1000's, which works fine for me.

    Moving to All-Grain brewing

Hi Derren, I’m 9 miles north of Peterborough, would be happy to let you help with one of my brew days when the C-19 situation allows. I have a small self built AG rig that produces 23l a brew. Best regards Dave

Any Home Brewers in Peterborough, Bourne & Stamford?

Wouldn't be anywhere else. Nice to know I'm not the only home brewer in the area. Got 2 AG brews on the go at the moment, single hop EKG, and Old Master, based on a Hop Back Mild recipe. In recovery mode at the moment, moved house mid last year, so production was shutdown, now frantically...

    Hello

Hi Everyone, I've been brewing beer from kits for 3 or 4 years now, and have made and enjoyed many different ones. It didn't take me long to work out that the 3kg kits produce the taste and quality of beer that suits me, so these are the kits I make. I have always used crown cap bottles for my...
