    Ridiculous beer descriptions

I’m slightly confused about comments about a NEIPA not tasting like beer? In what way does it not taste like beer? I could understand if it was one of these mango milkshake IPAs with kilos of added fruit pulp/puree and loads of lactose, but a NEIPA is just malt, wheat, oats, hops and yeast. A...

IBA doesn’t quite feel the same though. Definitely couldn’t call a Red IPA and India Red Ale either!!!

    BrewCon 2023 Comp

Considering the “Shipping Coordinator” is the person who took 3 months to log the scores and 9 months to send out the prizes last year, I would assume he just hasn’t arsed to mark them as “received”.

Fermzilla Gen 3 - £99 at Malt Miller

It’s a tenner cheaper on GEB. I’ve cross-threaded my Gen2 so I’ve been keeping an eye out on where has it for what price for either a coupon win or Christmas: https://www.geterbrewed.com/fermzilla-27-litre-triconical-gen3-starter-kit?search=Fermzilla

    Russel Brand accused of rape.

Basically, rape cases are difficult to prove “beyond reasonable doubt” because in the vast majority of cases there are only 2 people involved. Only 2% of rapes reported to police result in a charge, and on average it takes more than 2 years for these cases to reach court...

    Russel Brand accused of rape.

A major U.K. newspaper has reported detailed allegations, which they would be forced to retract if they weren't printed on sound legal footing. If Russell Brand doesn't sue them to force a retraction, then it’s not unreasonable to assume that there's truth in them, regardless of whether he ends...

    WHC dry yeast

I would suspect that some of CML’s current yeast range is already repackaged WHC dried yeast from their big blocks.

    WHC dry yeast

The pictures on maltmiller’s Instagram look like proper commercial packs of Homebrew yeast rather than repackaged:

    Cash or card

I can count on one hand the number of cheques I’ve written in my life, and I’ll be 40 next year. And I’m a bank signatory at work.

Anglian Craft Brewers Homebrew Competition 2023

Posted mine this morning. Feels strange submitting a bottle conditioned beer and not running around at the last minute to submit it as freshly bottled as possible!

    Malt miller recent experience

They probably have the best customer service in the business (along with CML). I’ve often found them significantly more expensive than their competitors, but for my last big order they were around 10% cheaper than the other 2 shops I compared them against for my full basket of ingredients!

    Ebay grain mills.

The GF mill is the best bit of equipment I’ve ever bought, it’s a great piece of kit. I had the Bulldog mill previously and hated it!

    Ebay grain mills.

Because they use whole 25kg sacks of base malt at a time, rather than splitting it across 5 or 6 brews?

    Ebay grain mills.

Uncrushed grain bought in bulk lasts longer than crushed grain bought in bulk You can dial in your crush to maximise your efficiency By crushing your own grain you know you’ll always get the same crush so get better consistency/repeatability

    BrewCon 2023 Comp

Who is organising it this year? Last year was an absolute shambles. Edit - just clicked the link. Simon Poppola is Shipping Coordinator - I hope that’s only organising the bottles that are shipped in and not shipping out any of the prizes afterwards!

    As the world gone mad

Standard blanket online joining form for new patients triggers GB news readers. I would imagine the benefit/cost ratio of having multiple new patient forms for multiple scenarios would be pretty low.

Tell us about your regular/house brews

I don’t have that many that I repeat over and over: Witbier Blonde ale, which I originally named A Classic American Blonde (ACAB for short because it was first brewed for my mate’s stag do, and he’s a policeman) Helles NEIPA but I often change up the hops and yeast

    New Fresh Ale category claimed

I carb all my English style ales as close to 2PSI as my Kegland in-line secondary regulator will let me, then serve them through my Pint365 hand pull.
