    Best all-in-one brewing system

Interesting, but I was just filling in the blanks from AGs post (ie which GF models had PID)

Yep. I have a G40 which also has PID. The cheaper S40 doesn't.

    Hi From Northamptonshire

Welcome! I am a returnee too. Had a break in the 80's when I lived in a really tiny flat. Started again in 1990 when I moved to a house. Before the break I started with kits then moved to extract then partial mash. All grain since 1990. Cheers!

A Newby brewer 'Hello' & i need a lil advice..

It is very easy to stress unnecessarily when brewing. Most of the time things work out fine. EG gravity of 1012 instead if 1008 - no need to worry. Generally speaking I just leave beer in fermenter for a firtnight then I bottle it. I only take a gravity reading to calculate the ABV%. I...

    Lactic acid for water treatment

Ah! Thanks!. Really confused now as to why there is still acid addition for mash and sparge as separate entries, and why those entries only allow lactic or phosphoric acid. So Brewfather is allowing for the use of CMS to affect mineral additions, but not to adjust mash pH fully? Weird. But...

    Lactic acid for water treatment

Thanks. yes I had done that, selected as shown below: But still in acid additions I can only see this: .. can only pick lactic or phosphoric

    Lactic acid for water treatment

Old thread I know, but I've been looking at Brewfather largely because so many people seem to rate it. But - I have enabled agents as shown on these screens, but when I go to the drop own to specify acid I still only get a choice of lactic or phosphoric - no CMS: It is the free version I am...

I don't know about the others but I wasn't suggesting you add some eg dextrin malt to this brew - I was offering advice for your next brew. With this one, I'd suggest just enjoying it the way it is. Learning process blah blah <g>

I have a drinking issue and need some assitance.

Don't know about other devices, but quoted minimum batch size for G40 is 10 litres (no special pipework necessary).

I have a drinking issue and need some assitance.

Can't help on longevity in kegs as I always bottle. But I don't see why kegged beer should last for a shorter period than bottled. I often hold 1 or 2 bottles back for consumption later, just to see, and based on that I'd happily keep regular beers for 6 months and stronger beers for a year or...

A bit of dextrin malt is another way to boost foam (it also adds body which you may or may not want)

Brewday in a greenhouse? Or a wetroom

Maybe I was just lucky, but I brewed outside for 20 years and didn't suffer any infections. Biggest challenge was maintaining mash temperature, which I did by regular stirring and checking. Now I'm indoors I prefer it, but if I needed to I'd happily brew outside again. Better than not brewing.

As said above, deciding on your budget will help a lot. Getting tools that you enjoy working with, rather than just put up with, really will reignite your interest. My advice would be to try to get something that you would positively like to own.

    Dehumidifiers

Unfortunate. Ours is an ecoair, and you switch it on at the unit then the timer does on/off. I assumed they were all like that

    Dehumidifiers

Just plug the device into a timer. We have one so the dehumidifier in the shed comes on at night while leccy is cheap. The timer we have lets you choose as many on and off periods as you want.

    Electric cars.

What do you need to tow that weighs 3 tonnes? A caravan was the biggest thing I could think of!

    Electric cars.

You didn't mention 3 tonnes! A typical small caravan weighs about a tonne and there are plenty that can manage that. But you are right - for 3 tonnes, no go.
