    Keg hopping

Yeah, they just don't sit flush on the bottom of the keg. I tried keg hopping once but the beer was incredibly murky. I used pellets in a muslin bag. Perhaps that was the problem.

    Keg hopping

I would recommend a floating dip tube with a mesh filter over a caskwidge, unless you want to leave a pint of beer at the bottom of your keg. They are not designed for corny kegs.

    Introducing myself

Welcome, bro. I don't have a recipe for what you are looking for. Perhaps someone else can assist. I will say this though, the entire process, from brew day to packaging, will affect the brew. Have you considered kegs? It really is the best way to package your beer.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

As you can see, it's a beautiful beer. Dark fruit, caramel, toasted molasses, charred sweetness, almost like burnt marshmallows. This beer reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on. Mouthfeel is luxurious with a tingle of carb. Taste is like a ruby red stout, bursting with...

Am very privileged to be critiquing the last bottle in existence of @Alastair70 imp stout.

Can you ferment too fast? M54 yeast

As I mentioned in another thread, I pitched a packet of S33 at 2pm on brew day. It had already taken off quite vigorously by 10pm the same night. Fermentation was complete by 9am the next morning. OG was 1.068, FG was 1.021 so about 6.25% (alternate). Which is what I was aiming for. Left it...

Using Kegland spunding valve for pressure fermentation

It has cleared considerably and it tasting rather nice. Unbelievable turnaround time for this brew; less than a week.

Using Kegland spunding valve for pressure fermentation

Smells like a lovely coffee stout. Taste is pretty good too. Huge coffee hit. It was not fully carbonated and looked weird AF. It honestly looked like someone had just poured a milky coffee into a glass. OG was supposed to be 1.062 (it was 1.068) and FG was supposed to be 1.014 (it was 1.021)...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Moosehead lager clone. Big thank you to @YeastFace for sharing the recipe. I've no idea if the colour is accurate or not, despite drinking over a thousand bottles of moosehead. Just never poured one into a glass. Some beers are just meant to be drank from the bottle. Taste wise, it's got some...

Using Kegland spunding valve for pressure fermentation

Pitched at around 25c. OG was 1.068. I added coffee grounds and beans to the serving keg. First few pours (maybe a pints worth) were brown and opaque, like a cup of coffee with not too much milk in it. During transfer, I stopped it pretty quickly when it hit the trub. Coffee beans (bagged)...

Using Kegland spunding valve for pressure fermentation

I pitched a packet of S-33 yeast at 2pm on Tuesday. 8 hours later I had to switch out my 2L blow-off bottle for a 5L jug, as the bubbles/foam were almost escaping out of the bottle. By 9am the next day, fermentation was complete. I have NEVER seen anything like that and I have been brewing for...

Brewfather IBU anomaly Gamma Ray Clone

Yip, it's a minefield. But FWIW, I have been using the SMPH calculator for over a year now (10-12 brews) and can't say I have had any complaints about the bitterness aspect of them.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

This is the one I used, from The American Homebrewers Association. Focal Point (Inspired by The Alchemist’s Focal Banger) 100/100 INGREDIENTS For 5.5 gallons (20.8 L) 9 lb (4.08 kg) Pearl malt 4.8 lb (2.18 kg) Pilsner malt 6-7 mL CO2 hop extract (6o min) 1 oz (28 g) Mosaic hops, 12.25% a.a...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Here is the clone for Focal Banger from BYO.com but I don't think this is the one I used. (5 gallons/19 L, all-grain) OG = 1.063 FG = 1.011 IBU = 80 SRM = 5 ABV = 7% While the recipe for Focal Banger has been known to change over the years, the Citra®/Mosaic® hop combo has been one thing...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

The original recipe was 100% El Dorado. Turned out great, with a nice candied orange aroma/taste. The second version with Azacca turned out much the same. Perhaps I should have fiddled around with the quantities.
