Making a bread from beer yeast and spent grain

I make bread by hand but whenever I've tried to use trub it always goes wrong. However I can testify that kit yeast makes great bread.

What's the 1 bit of advice you wish someone had given you, which you'd pass on to a new brewer?

If it looks clean, clean it again and then spray it with sanitiser.

    Young's American IPA Kit.

Let it do what it's going to do. I give it two weeks in the FV then start bottling and take gravity reading for my records during bottling and have taste in the trial jar at that point. I've always found the best thing to do once the yeast has gone in is leave it alone, I only trouble it to...

    Facebook

I use Twitter for news, I never tweet anything but follow news, sport and anything that's a bit of a laugh. Funny thing is, I've never tweeted anything but I've got 15 people following me, I hope they're not holding their breath. I like the randomness of the Twitter feed and just scroll through...

    St Peters ‘without’????

    Infection??

Smell and taste will be the best indicators, there's also your SG readings a wild yeast infection will strip out everything and drop the reading through floor.

A few more novice questions after bottling my 3rd batch

    1. I blast off as much crud with the shower pipe with the shower head removed (and my thumb over the end to get some pressure). After that hot water with Oxy and a soft cloth and that gets rid of everything. When I've done the tap(below) I put it all back together throw about a litre of...

    Facebook

Love it or hate it, it's here for the foreseeable future. I use it and don't let it use me, but I think that it's a generational thing. I would only post anything I'd happily have my wife and kids read and wouldn't dream of posting the dramas the kids seem to love airing publicly. I'm old...

What The Hell Are The Police Doing

Burglar: give me your valuables or I'll kill all of you. Me: would you like hobnobs or digestives with your tea. Yeah right, the law has always been somewhat vague on this issue of homeowners defending themselves against burglars. I have no idea what is considered "reasonable force" in a...

    Two TC's using lowicz

I use a piece of folded tissue sellotaped over the grommet in the lid of my FV and a blow of tube for stouts, stouts are insane.

    FG for a strong stout?

I did a Simply Stout I got a bit carried away with back in April 2016 using Wilko Gervin and it went from 1074 to 1007 and that's a Nottingham yeast.

    Glass

I like a stemmed pint glass.

Before I buy m42 mangrove yeast..

I use the M10- Workhorse as one of my summer, hot weather yeasts, as you said it works up to 32c. I've just used a pack I had from last year with controlled temps 21c and got 80% attenuation.
