    Weldless Heating Element

This might actually be the size I need as I want to make a smaller brew pot. I currently brew 23L using the BIAB method, but would like to brew more frequently. I have a smaller stainless steel pot and want to set that up. I was thinking of moving the fittings from one to the other, but have now...

    Weldless Heating Element

Since I’ve never used a low density element as you have recommended, then that may be a possible alternative ‘if’ they don’t need cleaning. If someone could share their experience that would help?

    Weldless Heating Element

The one I am after is shown in the attachment in my original post. The one you showed is of top quality, but not the same design. I’m looking for a weldless stainless steel wond or probe. They are very popular in Australia and the states, but I guess not here as yet :)

    Weldless Heating Element

I intend on fitting it in to a stainless steel vessel. The advantage of the weldless stainless steel heating elements is cleaning, plus they are efficient and reasonably priced. I already have one in my primary vessel and it‘s excellent. Brouwland was one of the first places I looked at, since...

    Make the best of it

Interesting gift choice, did they have a particular beer in mind they fancied :laugh8: Sorry, not familiar with that hop, so I’m of no use whatsoever:rolleyes:

Hops that Disappoint name and shame

Taste is obviously very subjective as we all appreciate, but there are also many other variables to take into consideration. Our choice and amount of grains, yeast and water profile will all have an effect on the final flavours as well as the freshness and harvest of the hops we use. If you want...

    Storage of grains

I purchase my base malts in 25kg bags and store the uncrushed grains in airtight containers that keeps them nice and fresh. Now, if I knew supplies would provide specialty malts in airtight containers I would definitely purchase larger quantities i.e. 5kg as shown above. But no supplier I know...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Everything was normal, well at least I believe it was. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but I could have missed something? I've racked it off into a secondary FV which has helped it a lot, so maybe it was just the yeast?

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Is it possible that using a campton tablet could make my wort cloudy? It's the second time I'm using a campton tablet and both times I have ended up with a cloudy brew. The cold breaks have been good, in fact the last one was better than normal as I used a heat exchanger in place of an...

    RECIPE ADVICE PLEASE .

I know the problem :) What you mention, makes a lot of sense. I have also read of others using tangerine in place of orange. I will start my brew when I have enough empty bottles, which I'm working diligently at... Once you brew is ready and your happy with it, could you post your...

    RECIPE ADVICE PLEASE .

At this point in time I'm thinking of adding the peel of two oranges to the last 10 minutes of the boil, to make 23L of a Firsty Ferret style beer. This won't be for a few weeks, so this may change if I can find more information on adding peels etc.

    Should I repitch.... again?

Adding a second packet of yeast should have done the trick unless as you mention it doesn't have the oxygen it requires, so yes what you suggest is worth a try. And asking a dumb question, you do have it in the right temperature zone?

    Repitching dry yeast

I have one FV that leaks air and then I have no airlock action, so take a gravity reading to find out what is really happening. I now put tape around the thread of my FV before screwing on the lid and that stops the air leaking so I can see and hear my baby breathing :laugh8:

    RECIPE ADVICE PLEASE .

Thanks for the quick response. Both sound good to me. I presume steeping in vodka is not only for steralising, but would also stop any unwanted enzymes?
