    Greenmantle Ale (Broughton Brewery)

I remember drinking this stuff years ago on my trips to the Scottish Borders. I've tried the usual sources for a clone recipe but can't seem to find any........... Anybody got a recipe they can share with me? Rod

    Dodgy phone call/Identity fraud

I either give them a tirade of abuse or say "Your call is important to me" and leave the phone connected until I remember to hang up (my memory isn't what it used to be and it's sometimes hours later when I remember)

    Rauchbier idea

Wow...........that's a high proportion of smoked malt. I do a smokey IPA with chinook hops but only use 500g of rauchmalt in a 23 litre batch and although it's fairly subtle there's a distinctive smokey taste to it.

Hi all I'm Dan and thinking of starting home-brewing,any

For a "brewing virgin" I would recommend trying one of the Brewferm range of kits. Most of these make 9 litres of excellent quality Belgian style beer. They are easily made with minimum mess/fuss and will give you a feel for brewing with minimal outlay.

    Geterbrewed?

I think it's pretty obvious why. Strangely however there are other non EU countries on their shipping list. Also strange that they have a ".co.uk" web address. I'll just stick to UK based suppliers from now on.

    Geterbrewed?

I normally use THBC - but when I tried to place an order it advised that they are no longer accepting UK addresses for payment/shipping. So it's F**k you THBC.................I've just placed my first order with Geterbrewed - fingers crossed !

How often are you making up for lost gravity points in AG?

I would try fly sparging and see if that makes any difference. (Brew Dog recommend fly sparging) Rod

    DPD Scam?

I've lost count of the number of times my Paypal account has been suspended..........at least according to the e-mails i keep receiving. Strangely enough when I reply "SCAM!" it comes back marked "undeliverable"

Wort Chiller - Is it really necessary?

I was having a problem with my brews (Belgian style in particular for some reason) developing a "chill haze". I was advised to try using a wort chiller. Made one from some copper microbore from Wickes and it worked !! I can get a brew from boiling to pitching temperature in around 10-15 minutes.

Russell Gas - CO2 supplier in East of Scotland

    Mangrove Jack's M20 Yeast

If it's banana flavour you're looking for - I can highly recommend this : https://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/whc-irish-liquid-yeast-banana-split-wheat-beer-yeast-p-4286.html I've just done a couple of batches of wheat beer using this yeast and it does exactly what it says on the packet !

Drinks You Wouldn't Admit to Drinking

OVD - now there's a blast from the past ! Seems to be peculiar to Dundee as I've seldom seen it anywhere else and have had some strange looks when I've asked for it !!!

    First brew done!

The most likely cause of the beer in the keg being flat is that you have a leaking seal. A smear of vaseline on the rubber washer in the cap usually does the trick. Your options now are to either re-prime the keg or bottle your beer (remembering to prime the bottles!) Good luck !

Best kits for quick drinking from a corny keg

Any wheatbeer kit ! Wheatbeer is (usually) a quick fermenter and as it's traditionally cloudy - you dont have to wait for it to clear.

    Forced carb equipment

The "glug" you describe is air entering the barrel via the tap. this happens when you "run out" of pressure in the barrel. The danger here is that it will cause the beer remaining in the barrel to go off (and flat!) within a couple of days. You will struggle to force carbonate in a pressure...

    Frothy but not fizzy lager

Sounds like you have over carbonated it. the "cure" is to vent the keg to release the pressure - leave for an hour and repeat. If it still pours foam.......keep repeating until you get a decent pour.
