    Ace electric boilers?

I'll see if I can measure it later....would be interesting to know

First running of the inkbird 308

Hi Sbond I've just received a new 310, and have it taped in position on the FV ready to go! I'm just wondering if you (or anyone else) has changed the heating and cooling differential? Is the standard 2 degrees about right? I don't have a fermentation fridge yet, and so the FV is in a...

    Ace electric boilers?

I filled my 1600W version to a couple of inches below the full mark just to be safe but the rolling boil was well behaved and never foamed up. I'm tempted to try it higher next time.... I haven't callibrated mine yet - any idea whether the full mark is 30l or less?

    Inkbird + Aquarium heater?

Great - thanks Twostage. :thumb:. 310 arrived today, so I'll tape and insulate it next to another thermometer to check they both agree, and go from there! Much appreciated. Ian

May as well have a brewday then

Hmmm...so I'm clearly doing something different.... 1hr Heat mash water and dough in 1.5hrs Mash 1hr 2 x sparge and drain 1.5hr boil .5hr chill (the wort, not me) .5hr aerate, pitch, seal up FV 1hr clean up, pour pint, admire handiwork, plan next shiny purchase Or thereabouts! Clearly I was...

    Inkbird + Aquarium heater?

The aquarium heater is currently suspended in the wort, so no issues about low reading. It's just that the temperature adjustment is so clumsy on the heater I can't get it exactly right. My thinking was that I could get the inkbird to do the job more easily and more accurately.....

    Inkbird + Aquarium heater?

I've used an aquarium heater suspended in my FV a few times now but I can't quite get the temperature to sit at 20 degrees. The adjustment knob on the heater is so fiddly! Grrr! Inkbird have been kind enough to offer me a discount so I have ordered a 310 and was wondering if I could hook this...

    Ace electric boilers?

Hope so - I'm really looking forward to seeing how this first attempt at AG (or was it BIAB?!) compares with all the kit tweaks that I've done to date. Okay - so sounds my bag results fit with your figures. I might try mashing and sparging with just the false bottom in next time, although...

    Ace electric boilers?

Yikes! Looks like something out of Quatermass and the Pit! I sieved out some of the bigger bits when I had to decant to a new FV and it was just grey sludge. Good to know that it's normal! The false bottom was excellent and kept the bazooka clear of hops so that it could deal with the smaller...

    Ace electric boilers?

Hi Tony Generally pretty good - despite taking 9 hours! Needless to say I had a great time! I ended up using the false bottom and bag for the mash, but the grain was moving very freely. The boiler was brilliant - held temperature on the mash, drained perfectly every time, and boiled very...

    Ace electric boilers?

They were v helpful when I called up with questions about the element. To be honest I didn't use the thermostat. I used a thermometer with probe for the mash temp (and then switched the boiler off). Then for the boil the element ran continuously. ....but always nice to have kit that works...

May as well have a brewday then

I did a 90 min mash and then 3 X 20 min sparges. The last one was a bit of a mess, but I guess with practise I should get quicker...can't get any slower! [emoji38]

May as well have a brewday then

Blimey that's good going! I did my first AG yesterday and clocked in at 10 hours from start to tools cleaned! [emoji1] ...and that doesn't count the leaking FV tap that I discovered at midnight and had to decant into a fresh one! A mere 7 hours to shave off!

    Ace electric boilers?

1600w element produces a lovely rolling boil. No foam ups at all. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ace electric boilers?

Ouch! Never a good start to the day. Hope the second run was trouble-free. I've just started my first AG brew with the ACE. After running through your mash technique a hundred times, I lost my bottle a bit and decided to try out the false bottom and grain bag in order to try and avoid any...

    Ace electric boilers?

I've tested my new unit with about 10l of water and it was very vigorous. I'll let you know once I've used it with wort.

    Ace electric boilers?

[emoji106] I had already started scheming this exact mod! Just need to see if I can strip back the ends of the snipped wires on the 900W element. I'm still tempted to see if I can secure the false bottom during the boil to give the bazooka filter a helping hand. Maybe I'll tie some cord around...

    Ace electric boilers?

Here you go - photo of the twin horseshoe coils. Hopefully you can make out wattage. The internal one is disconnected. Any thoughts on the false bottom Tony - as a veteran Ace user do you think it would help in the boil? Thanks
