    Monster Mill

It came directly from Monster Brewing Hardware in the States. Far from cheap, and unfortunately I had to pay about 30% duty on top of that! A bit of an extravagance, but I believe in buying only once. Hopefully, it will perform well and I won't regret the purchase.

    Monster Mill

Here it is: The first of my bits and pieces for the 'brew garage'. The MM3 pro with hopper extension. Just need some grain now, in order to test it!

Try raising the temp to 24 degrees for a week and retest.

    Horrrs upon Horrors

Ah! Just noticed that you placed the container on top of the fermenter - a no brainer then. Any slight reduction in temperature of the the contents of the fermenter would create a syphon effect. Once started, it wouldn't stop until the glass was empty!

    Horrrs upon Horrors

Sounds like you may have started with the temperature in the fermentation vessel a little higher than ambient. A delay in the production of co2, and a reduction in temp. could produce such a situation. If you had started with a slightly lower temp in the fermentation vessel, then the rise in...

    The dreaded Muntons stuck ferment?

Well, just as a bit of an update, I fermented this for one week at the lower end of the recommended temperature, then around 1 week at 19.5°. After this I took a hydrometer reading and it was around 1020. Following advice here I raised the temperature again and did another week at 22° and...

Fast Ferment Plastic Conical & Stand

Good find MyQul! You can get yourself a 200 litre fermenter and frame delivered for less than £250 inc. vat. I wonder how easy it would be to add another take off point half way up the cone (that didn't leak).

    Ace electric boilers?

Am I missing something here? The link in the original post shows this item priced at £1,099.99! Is this what people are paying for it?

    Fermenting help

Is there no way with the chronical of slightly pressurising with CO2? I see that you use corny kegs, so you should have at least some of the equipment required. Alternatively, during the last day or so of fermentation (before you cold crash), close off the valve to the blow-off tube. This will...

    accurate hop measurement

If you've got a few minutes spare, you could always count the total number of pellets, divide that number by 100, then multiply by the number of grams per addition!!

    The dreaded Muntons stuck ferment?

Well I definitely prefer a lower abv ale - it allows me to drink more of them. If I drink any of the draft lager around here, I sometimes end up with a headache before I leave the bar!

    The dreaded Muntons stuck ferment?

Well, I just made it (for Christmas Day). Doesn't taste too bad either!

    Steved53

Well, better leave them than get too stressed up, but leaving that lot would grieve me too. Saying that, almost everything that we moved (at great expense) when leaving the uk over fifteen years ago, stayed in boxes and is only now being sorted out (to make room for my brewery!). Most of it is...

    Steved53

Hi Chippy, Yes, it’s an old 850 T3, with a few mods/non standard bits. The trials bike is a stock (apart from the broken rear mudguard) SWM 320 trials bike circa 1977. I had previously owned a R100RT (1983), and I intended to purchase another BM in order to go on a bike tour of Ireland...

    The dreaded Muntons stuck ferment?

I have never bothered to rehydrate before. The instructions with the Muntons kits is to just sprinkle it on the top. I think that is more to simplify it, and not put anyone off, than it being the state of the art technique. If think if they specified that you need to make a yeast starter, they...
