How long before drinking an IIPA?

Out of interest, what temperature did you ferment at?
  2. S

Primary fermentation left for over 2yrs. Will it be OK?

Take one for the team! We all want to know what it tastes like (without really having the desire to try it), so I now feel it is incumbent on you to try it, as you have piqued our interest!

    My new Growler

It's been a while since I bought mine, and I have both types. You just need to ask which type they are selling. Sometimes easier said than done, when the seller is Chinese and may have limited grasp of English. The giveaway (generally) would be if it hasn't got a plastic cap to hold the gas...

    My new Growler

I think you likely have to bite the bullet and buy something similar to Dad's_Ale. If you do a secondary fermentation in the growler, you have tied up an expensive, relatively small volume dispensing vessel, for the duration of the secondary fermentation and the trip. Apart from that, if you...

    My new Growler

I can't understand why they make these 4L ones with these proportions. The 2L ones have (in my view) the correct proportions, but these 4L ones (3.6L?) should I believe be shorter and wider at the base. I've had my eye on these, and the tap arrangements, for something a little easier to...

    Grolsch bottles in the oven?

I tend to steam everything. I have a commercial steamer, though, which continues to steam for minutes on end at high pressure. I have used smaller ones and they are a pain. You steam for thirty seconds, then stop for thirty seconds etc etc. Nothing beats a good prior cleaning though. I use...

anyone ever tried grown bacteria after sanitising?

Bleach works much more effectively in an acid environment. Swimming pool water chemistry 101!

Brilliant! 'I could conceivably get used to this' - priceless!!

    bonfire brewing?

This has given me an idea Brumbrew. I wonder if my missus would mind me using the wood burning stove in the lounge?

    Bag for biab

This is the same that I bought from Brewinabag.co.uk. Same price for a 40l bag. Larger bags a little more expensive. No problem lifting about 25kgs. Just don't heat it whilst mashing, unless the bag is kept well away from the source of heat. I contacted the seller and he was kind enough to send...

    Brewdog - DIYDog

I bet we all get invitations to become a shareholder, or an 'equity punk investor'! I escaped becoming a punk in the 70's and I'll probably give it a miss this time around too! Big thumbs up for this 'gesture' - whatever the motivation. This really gives you an insight into the sort of things...

Inkbird new release ITC-310T 2in1 Timer & Thermostat

Yes, I know that is possible. I've seen that thread. My point is: The 308 was improved by allowing the use of detachable probes (long or short) without cutting of any cables, by the introduction of the 308S. Why then introduce the 310T without this facility?

    Brewdog - DIYDog

As much as I like this gesture, and will probably try some of the recipes (at some point), a lot of these recipes are not for the faint of heart/wallet. In one recipe I counted 549.50 grams of hops for 20 litres!! At the prices I'm paying for hops that sort of homebrew needs to be thought of as...

Inkbird new release ITC-310T 2in1 Timer & Thermostat

My question to Inkbird is why are they introducing new units with the captive temperature probe? They have introduced the ITC 308S which has the ability to swap probes, and I think this is a sensible improvement. Why bring out a newer model without including this improvement?

New arrival 12" 30cm long temperature sensor

I agree that it looks that way Wardy, but have you popped one of those controllers open? I did, and whilst I'm no electronics expert, I am reasonably used to using a soldering iron. I took the view that I would likely do some 'unplanned soldering or desoldering' whilst attempting to remove those...

New arrival 12" 30cm long temperature sensor

An even tidier way would be for Inkbird to supply the controller with either a captive or a short trailing female socket, which would accept the plug from the 12" temperature sensor! Oh! And as an aside, it would be really useful if Inkbird would supply their PID controller...

    Reinheitsgebot - gebuggered?

Very true Rob, but ... Maybe they need (like the cereal companies with regard to nuts etc), to state: ' 'May also contain traces of Glyphosate etc etc. I don't think the label would be big enough!

    Reinheitsgebot - gebuggered?

Because they are the only ones to have a purity law that states nothing but water, hops, barley and yeast will be in their beer?
