Hello from Kent... 12 hours to go...

I suggest you don't worry about the missing grommet and hole and get the kit on while you chase up the other missing bits. Airlocks are something a lot of us don't bother with ( though others won't do without them ), basically the lid on your bucket isn't airtight anyway so the CO2 will find...

The reconditioned ones with new seals and a prv at £56 doesn't seem to bad. A friend of mine bought 3 of the £36 ones a while back which I've had a look at and they seemed to be in pretty good condition (though the prv hole was welded over). He did however collect in person so may well have...

Then again a forum search on the subject would produce reams of responses, but that would involve a little effort on your own part wouldn't it?

    Storing Grain

I use a bin, not plastic but galvanized steel. I've had mice in my garage before and it's amazing what the little buggers will chew through.

Anything wrong with putting a lid & airlock on primary fv?

Not wrong, maybe unnecessary. It's down to personal preference really. Mine is for the cracked open lid, but then mine are fermented in a fridge and the door keeps most of the flying nasties out.

THBF Secret Santa - The Results Thread!

My turn, this has had a good week to settle and a couple of hours in the fridge so it should be ready to go. It opened with a nice hiss and poured with very little in the way of head, what there was dissipated very quickly, carbonation however was spot on. In the photo it looks very dark but...

Cider Acid level is Rising. Help!

Any chance your increase in acidity is due to the carbon dioxide produced during the ferment (ie. carbonic acid)?

    Gah, Car Confusion!

Seeing as it advertised as being off the road for 24 years and "needing a bit of work" I think you may have been a bit "ambitious". I'm sure a roadworthy example is worth a bit more than £1000.

    I hate bottling because...

Agreed.... you just need a bench capper to cap them!

THBF Secret Santa Bottle Swap 2012! Closed

I'm just hoping the Yodel card I received wasn't mine.... "tracking number invalid, please refer to sender"? Anyway mine went in the post today, I'm a bit late so it cost £5.60 first class!!!! :nah: Probably half that was packing, if the post office manage to break that one they must really...

How do you gas your corny kegs?

It's the method which works for me. Higher pressure may get it bubbly quicker, but if you don't stop in time you'll find it's over carbed and you're struggling with fizzy beer, dropping the pressure off afterwards means that your co2 is coming out of the beer and you're basically throwing it...

How do you gas your corny kegs?

Leave it for a week at the pressure and temperature at which you wish to serve (12 psi at 11 c for me). Then leave it at that pressure to dispense, if you reduce it the co2 will come out of the beer. If you have problems with foam then a length of small diameter (3/16") hose will drop the...
