No, you're right, they're used because they're the cheapest. They're also perfectly suitable, in 80 odd AG brews I've only killed 2 (I use 4) and that's through my own stupidity in leaving them on with no liquid covering them!
Might I ask where a reliable place to download them might be? They're not on my regular source and I've been waiting 3 hours for something to happen on a download from TPB.
The highlights, a sign for the brewery, booze and chocolate! I also scored cash and gift vouchers, I'm gonna use those to treat myself to some new clothes... That's assuming I've not put the stone and a half back on today!
No, I meant final gravity. For example a beer with an expected FINAL gravity of 1.012 ended up at 1.008.
It was a bloody lovely beer though and it wouldn't stop me overnight mashing again.
Is this a brewing related question? The reason I ask is that thermocouples are designed to be used at far higher temperatures than we brewers are interested in, the probes we use at brewing temperatures use the principle of varying resistance with temperature, not generating an EMF.
So no, you...
I don't think the base malt in the SNPA is going to make a lot of difference, whatever you use will be overpowered by the crystal and all those lovely hops!
The lager however won't have the crystal or the hops so you will be relying on the quality of the malt so it's worth pushing the boat out...
Which makes the 2 8gig SD cards I bought earlier for £7.97 worth £605,338.80 :o
Edit, I misread that as 100Mb not 10! - my cards are now worth £6,053,888..... anyone have a time machine?
Not entirely accurate, they supposedly crop better after 3 years but I've had 4-500g (dried) off my cascade for the last 2 years... and that's how long it's been in the ground.
50/50 wheat malt to pale/lager/pilsner
Hop it to 15 IBU (variety doesn't really matter as it's just for bittering).
Use a weisse yeast ( I use wlp380)
If you have temp control pitch the yeast at 13 and allow it to rise to 17 degrees.
Once fermented out carb it and drink it.
Whenever I need a beer quick I make a Weisse, not to all tastes I know but 2 weeks in the fermenter and a week in a cornie carbing up makes a pretty rapid brew.
