Do you use pressure barrels or bottles for your home-brewed BEER?

Been swapping PMs with Nidger re Morrisons PET Bottles and I am sure I read on here and cant find it using search that the bottles to use for Beer / Lager / Cider etc should have vertical gaps in the Threads Can someone confirm that pls - as I dont want to have misremembered - and they should...

King Keg Implosion, is it a write off?

I had exactly this after I packed in brewing a few years back. A twisten contorted mess. But enough about me I tried to return my PB to its original shape by a few means and failed. So I left it where it stood and forgot about it and a few months later I noticed it had returned completely back...

The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

Cheers will give that a go - attracted by the Florida Keys - a place I really like Ive watched "The night of" cant remember the source - maybe Netflix and I was hooked after the first episode. Have recommended it to several mates and they all seemed to like it - but to make sure I recently...

    Shoolboy error

Damn. I have brewed 17 litres of Admirals Reserve for a mates 70th Birthday bash. There were 18 litres to start but I sampled one - they are around 3 months in the bottle I havent bottles anything for 40 years and the one I tried had a very very slight fizz when opened but tasted great and...

    Woodfordes wherry

Sounds good - if I do another Wherry I will try that - but what would be a typical og without it and with it please if you know. Cheers Wp

    Woodfordes wherry

This doen not really answer your question but I have done 15 or so Wherry brews and am also doing Nelsons Bitter at around 5% and Admirals Reserve at 5.5 ish. The latter is superb everyone keeps telling me so I may phase out Wherry and Nelsons and have 3 KKs full of Admirals Reserve

    Wilko PB Tap leak

Super tip by Clint as this seems to have cured the problem - by simply putting the lever of the tap at 3 o clock or due east or at exactly 90 degrees. Cheers Clint I dont know why the Tap leaks if past that position - whether there is a pinhole designed into it - or an inherrent design fault...

    Wilko PB Tap leak

Cheers Wynne - but the crack that is bothering me is on the outside of the Tap and because its totally new I didnt expect it to leak When it did I suspected the usual internal leak and maybe (I thought) I should have greased the new tap up before us Then I found this hairline crack which must...

    Wilko PB Tap leak

Thanks again terrym I will probably do exactly that if I can get the right tap. Presumably once on its side and chocked I could open tap steadily to vent the gas and then having prepared the new tap screw that straight in. The Cider is really good and will have 39 and a half pints still in...

    Wilko PB Tap leak

Hi Clint - No I only bought this in June (right at the end) - so it was new I know you can strip them down to add vaseline but I would have only done that after 4 or 5 brews rather than on a new 'un Will try your "dead on" 90 degrees suggestion - as well as the vaseline I have daubed on...

    Wilko PB Tap leak

Thanks terrym May have to pop in to local HB S . I am pretty sure tap is a simple screw in type into the body but as I bought it in June (20) I cant say for absolutely sure it was (an age thing again) and of course I cant look as its full of Wobblygob My doubt further springs from the fact...

    Wilko PB Tap leak

Bought new one of these and have a Wobblygob Mixed Fruit in it (clearing) Noticed over weekend the tap has a leak - and I fiddled with the position to try to cure it. It was after it kept leaking I noticed there was a pinhole or minor crack on the front of the tap unit itself So anyone...

Retiring on £40K, where in the UK would you want to live?

Now I really cant disagree with that ! I would have one tomorrow but I fear that the first time I made it to Skipton (Yorkshire for our OP) that would be the end of the journey. Just love the Pub scene there esp. The Beer Engine - what a set up that is Anyway came back because I forgot to add...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Trying some excellent Wherry (really pleased with that) from a PB. The PB / beer in question figured on here in a few posts because I had bought a new Lid / Valve / Tap for this PB and found the 2nd Ferm "gas" had gradually leaked out So the advice was recharge with sugar and replace the old...

    Hi All . . .

Hi garmostripel Yes we had a thread on that mismatch of instructions a few months back. Seems there was old stock out there. If you search you will probably find it and I think people decided it was a preference whether to hop early or after 4 days Anyway I cracked my Wherry last night after...

    Hi All . . .

2 weeks on Norfolk Broads made me a Woodforde's fan and I drank my first moored up in Acle and it was a Nelsons Revenge. Following day we went to Great Yarmouth where I searched for more NV but was offered "only" Wherry and I loved it. Went to Fur and Feather when moored at Salhouse Broad and...
