    inkbird being a little intense

Thanks for your responses everyone. So I had to look up what a rheostat was, I think I get the general gist, my problem is that on YouTube there appears to be not a single video on how to use one in that context. I'm not sure how I'd go about using one as I'm no electrical engineer and I...

    inkbird being a little intense

I have the inkbird ITC-308 and I find it difficult to control the mash temperature with it, I'm probably setting the parameters incorrectly. If I want the mash temp at, say, 66C, I'll set the lower limit to 65 and upper to 67, as I don't want it cooling or overheating and failing to convert...

    Making a review

Oh sorry! I misunderstood why you shared it. Thank you. I actually got it for less than £140, as there is currently a price drop on it (we shall see why...) appreciate the share, I will look over it. I know you repeated that back at me but I genuinely was trying to be polite about it (although I...

    Making a review

Not meaning to sound dismissive but this is a very different product from the one I linked, so not applicable to my needs.

    Making a review

So it appears nobody who has bought the klarstein conical fermentation vessel (15L) linked below has done a review of it. I've never really reviewed anything properly before so I'd like to know if you were reading a review, what would you want a review into such a vessel to include? I know the...

How little in a 25L fermentation vessel?

My leak is around the tap, which I cut a hole for, not the lid.

How little in a 25L fermentation vessel?

CO2 may be denser than oxygen, but the difference is insufficient to make much of a difference. We'd have died of oxygen toxicity if gases layered!

How little in a 25L fermentation vessel?

This! I am still here though, you can ask me rather than using the third person lol

How little in a 25L fermentation vessel?

Not sure what you mean by using cling film. How is that going to hold back the pressure of 15L of beer?

How little in a 25L fermentation vessel?

So I bought a 15L vessel for smaller batches but ****** up the hole size and now it leaks, despite using larger silicone washers. I might be able to find a work around, but in case I don't I do have a trusty old (not that old) 25L FV, but of course there's a risk with a lot of head space (what...

    Why are my beers dark?

To put into context the fact gases mix and don't layer, if they did we would suffocate in the sheer volume of nitrogen (nearly four fifths) that makes up all atmospheric gas, which would take up nearly 5,000 vertical miles worth of space around the earth.

Cold crashing, better in the primary or the pressure barrel

Fair point on them not responding... didn't see that! I was planning on transferring to a pressure barrel, topping up with co2 then dropping the temp. Ideally I'd like to use the co2 from the fermentation process to fill it but that seems unlikely.

    Brewfather

But surely I'd have to change this for every new malt combination? Surely it's the extract values that change based on malting and crush size, the efficiency of the kit shouldn't change?

    Brewfather

It seems like a fair number of people use this platform, so I thought it might not be a bad idea to have a sort of ongoing master thread that questions can be posted on (at this rate I can tell it's going to be me asking most of them). There's something I'm finding particularly confusing. With...

Ideal DIY mash and boil kettle size

Thank you but sorry this really would have been out of my budget range.

Cold crashing, better in the primary or the pressure barrel

Sure, I'm aware this is an option, but I was asking to find out what clibit actually does do.

Wort chiller hose fittings, what am I missing?

My hose pipe is significantly larger diameter, unfortunately.

Wort chiller hose fittings, what am I missing?

What are the stainless steel parts that fit to the coil?
  19. J

Wort chiller hose fittings, what am I missing?

Ah so they don't attach to the chiller coil? Fwiw I can't use my kitchen taps for this, I use a flomasta adapter for my shower but it's ultimately the same end result so this doesn't really matter... with that said my landlord and a fitter are coming over today to possibly consider refitting the...
