    The Next Dr Who [POLL]

I quite liked Jodie to start with but aside from the dodgy scripts and attempts to completely rewrite the show's history, she just didn't seem to grow into the role. Michelle Gomez nailed it as Missy/the Master whereas Jodie's Doctor seemed too needy and unable to project the gravitas of a...

Got strawberries, what to use with them for wine?

That was why I was wondering about the frozen fruit option from Iceland. £3 would get me enough "Summer Fruits" to make it up to a total of 3.4lb of fruit with the strawberries.

Got strawberries, what to use with them for wine?

Sadly I'm not a fan of the honey based drinks that I have tried.

Got strawberries, what to use with them for wine?

I think I'll make this the reserve option and I do have a packet of cider yeast. But for now I'm still leaning more towards making some wine. Pretty much the same process but (guessing the quantities) with ingredients along the lines of: 0.7KG strawberries 2 litres apple juice 1KG sugar (maybe...

Got strawberries, what to use with them for wine?

Some weeks back I had the opportunity to pick some garden strawberries and froze them (about 700g) with a view to making wine. I was told I could come back and pick more, but apparently since then the supply of strawberries has not replenished, with hungry birds being blamed (there was no net or...

    The Next Dr Who [POLL]

I don't see the contradiction with my comment. William Hartnell's Doctor was a sassy alien who at times seemed quite willing to put his companions at risk. Peter Cushing's version was an eccentric inventor but also a friendly human uncle character. Much less edgy and presumably with less back...

    The Next Dr Who [POLL]

Well he was only doing a less edgy rehash of William Hartnell's Doctor and stories condensed into movie format to cash in on the huge popularity of the Daleks at that time.

    Mojito Kilju

Top up plan has been abandoned for today. Now the boiled water has had a chance to cool I checked the Demijohn again and the fermentation is coming up through the airlock. It could be a coincidence as we are about 48 hours in, but it seems to have gone into absolute overdrive since adding the...

But I like the sound the demijohn makes when you pour boiling water into it wink...

    Mojito Kilju

Well that was exciting! Squeezed and added some lime juice and gave the demijohn a swirl and the airlock went from vigorous bubbling to full on boiling for a minute. 😲 It's hard to tell with all the mint but there doesn't seem to be much of a yeast head forming. Any reason not to top up the...

    No covid ***

Admittedly it's a concept that many don't grasp (essentially everything is poisonous depending on dosage) but how does that relate to anti-vaxxers infecting others?

Not really dude. The scientific method and peer review by all sorts of physicists says hi.

No, my understanding of Occam's Razor is that when choosing between theories to explain something, you pick the one that requires making the least assumptions. Usually taken to mean when in doubt, the most simple explanation is probably best.

Hitchens's razor - essentially claims made without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. You don't need to disprove the existence of the celestial teapot.

    Mojito Kilju

Do you think I should add some lime juice now or give it a week? In the YouTube guide they seemed to suggest that adding it early in the fermentation could lead to a vinegar taste.

    Mojito Kilju

My Mojito Kilju attempt is underway. Just used the one bunch of mint as it seemed rather a lot. Added the peel from 3 limes (no juice yet). Started out looking like this yesterday before adding the sugar water (and the yeast nutrient and yeast): Today it is bubbling away and looks like this...

WELL out of date kit !

I would Toucan it. Get a stout kit and double it up with the out of date kit and 1KG of brewing sugar. Should turn out around 6% with plenty of body and flavour.

Good to see the celestial teapot has now entered the chat. Not a Venn Diagram, but this chart is helpful when assessing how far down the rabbit hole someone has gone:
