The all rounders are no more

Gotta be stainless imo. PET is a false economy as impossible to clean, and have a "use by date", rather than lasting indefinitely.

    Ridiculous beer descriptions

Session Double IPA - an oxymoron if there ever was one. Or by extension, anything 'session' that is over 5% ABV.

September Competition - American Pale Ales

Beers were judged yesterday afternoon, and without further ado, I can announce the winner as..... @matt76 with his Mustang American Amber Ale. Honourable mentions are @matt76 In the belly of a fruit bat BIPA, and @dave77 with an APA. Feedback will drop into DMs very shortly. On reflection I...

    How dangerous is it?

Excuse my ignorance, what is the advantage of using these over just leaving the wort to cool in the boiling vessel with the lid on? For example one issue I would forsee is the zero dissolved oxygen in the wort.

    How dangerous is it?

Dark waters was such a good film, but sobering indeed.

    How dangerous is it?

    And aluminium, and teflon coated.

    How dangerous is it?

Copper salts are toxic, but not that toxic. E.g. copper sulphate is used in schools with any particular risk mitigation. If in doubt you can cleaner the cooler first as others have suggested, but no way will more than 1g end up in your wort. A move to SS would be a downgrade imo. It's much less...

Gentle reminder to get the beers in the post this weekend if you can. I'm still waiting on a few, and might do some of the judging next Thursday. Thanks

    Beer foam - it matters.

There is a foam talk at Brew Con if anyone is going.

Mash out and denaturing of enzymes

Main benefit of the mash out is to reduce the viscosity of the sugars to help them drain out. Hotter = thinner. Same benefit as using a hotter sparge.

Motorcyclist fined after fireball Cambridge car crash

The motorcyclist was already in prison for a separate violent crime against his ex partner too.

Motorcyclist fined after fireball Cambridge car crash

The car has the civil liability imo. Plenty of time to see the motorbike, and stop the manoeuvre. The motorcyclist was done for driving without a license, without insurance, and without due care and attention. I imagine the latter was tagged on because he's already in court.

    New AIO SS Brew Tech.

Good point. I guess the right thing to do is to hardwire the cable off a fused spur. Even with my 2700w AIO, I get nervous with the provided euro adapter, being of fairly flimsy build quality.

    New AIO SS Brew Tech.

20A will be fine on a domestic ring main provided it has been wired correctly (2.5mm^2). Don't use with an extension lead though. Rather too many downsides with this otherwise though.

    Murky beer

Pretty much. Protofloc is pelletised Irish moss, adipic acid and bicarb. More convenient to use but otherwise does exactly the same

    Murky beer

You could whack that sample in the fridge and see if it clears.

Thiolized yeast curious...but will I be thrown in jail??

Packaged yeast is allowed from any country. Customs are not going to know if its GMO or not.

    Is this ruined?

Yeah this isn't ruined, just chill well and pour gently!
