    Bargain needs a recipe.

@DocAnna I really like the format you used with this recipe. Very nice. How did you calculate the sugar content of the Marmalade? My guess the Marmalade is 50% sugar so 2 tubs = 3kg of fermentables. Should we take a little water with this (sorry 🙏)

    @RichardM Did you remember? 😁

    Bargain needs a recipe.

@DocAnna Had good success with olive oil in wine. The volume used does matter obviously, but it appears to be metabolised by fermentation, and very quickly. Pretty much gone after first day. Never ever seen an oily surface like you might expect. Use two or three good glugs in wine. Does that...

    Help Please?

Tell us was it is and what you have done and we can help. Don't ditch it, it's probably OK, and even if it isn't most things can be corrected.

Thinking olive oil as a nutrient.

I can deal with any filth that it may have, that may affect fermentation.

I was rather hoping for a beer really. 6kg would need an awfully large slice of toast😁

Porridge Jim but not as we know it.

I think savoury porridge does need a taste bud reset. Chicken Stock porridge works. Nutella and peanut butter on test today

Boosting ABV in a Porter Recipe

I agree it may thin it. But I am suggesting it to guarantee the numbers, and then only a smidge not a full sugar wash 🤣

    Mesh size - hop bag

That's exactly what I found. Solved with an MJ 800 in the boil. Cleans up with a shower head. I kept my finer one for dry hopping. Caustic (TFR) gets them super clean in seconds after rinsing away the debris.

Boosting ABV in a Porter Recipe

I would go for proportional, be a bit on the cautious side and then adjust in the fermenter with little sugar if you need to. I am not a purist or numbers brewer I prefer to do things by taste.

baffled by small amount of wort extracted (relative noob)

And finally... Don't forget you can top up a fermenter.

Surely that's what the low pressure gauge is for?

Help with a Saison - ginger and orange

Not personally, but there was a chap on the Isle of Wight who did. I think you can get garlic wine too and before you ask... 'no'😁... Nearly as bad as Christmas pudding wine.... Eeeyuuuk

Help with a Saison - ginger and orange

You could of course use a natural orange essence.
