    Secret Santa 2019 Reviews

Now finishing the 2nd beer, the aroma is very citrus, I'd guess Citra? The taste is just as citrus and very pleasing on the palate. The End is Near's appearance is what I'd expect for a pale ale, the carbonation is spot on and has a velvety mouth feel. Really enjoyed both my beers that were...

    Secret Santa 2019 Reviews

Currently drinking my 1st and thoroughly enjoying it, the first thing you notice with the Breakfast Beer is the mouth feel, it's got the thickness of a stout but the flavour of an ale. The bitterness for me is perfect, it's subtle but it's there, the biscuit malt shines through. The head...

    What are you drinking tonight.

A golden ale recipe I created from scratch for a christening tomorrow, needs a few adjustments before I'm happy with it, it is more golden than it looks, just black kitchen surface making it look dark

    What are you drinking tonight.

I just checked on the rye and smells good, yet to taste it, will do this next weekend when put in secondary and dry hop. In meantime tried the raspberry wheat beer I bottled and tastes better than thought. Put cherry milkshake IPA in secondary so fingers crossed on that one as never done one before

    What are you drinking tonight.

I used around 1KG for 10L batch and seemed good, just needed to amend hops slightly, as slightly too bitter, saying that I've experimented with the recipe and have gone with exactly 600g this time so will let you know how that turns out

    What are you drinking tonight.

Drinking rye beer trial 1 (name to be creates once happy with recipe), bit too bitter but on right track, whilst bottling raspberry wheat and brewing rye trial 2. Making blackberry milkshake IPA tomorrow morning

    Pop the Cherry

I used some bits from this recipe and another to make a raspberry wheat, currently in primary, got 1.75kg frozen raspberries from Aldi for around £8. Definitely worth using frozen price wise

    Pop the Cherry

Is there a reason to rack it after 4 days to secondary? I'm not going to realistically be able to rack to secondary for 8 days, as it's fermenting at a diff property, do you think this will create much of a difference? ImI just contemplating if it's worth making trip to sort it before weekend

    Sodium metabisulfite for water treatment

I'm relatively new to brewing, I brew in Sheffield which has chlorine in the water (took couple of brews to work out it's the water and not me) I now use sodium metabisulphate, I purchased it online thinking it would come in tablet form now stuck with 100g powdered form. I just measure 1 gram...

Sorry if I come across a bit simple but I'm going to try the recipe out, when you say 6 weeks is that after bottling?
