    Welsh National Homebrew Competition 2017

Thanks Toffee, to be completely honest I was expecting it to get ripped to shreds so it was quite a nice surprise. James

    Welsh National Homebrew Competition 2017

Well done all! I scored 28 for my IPA, it was let down by a lack of bitterness that I was already aware of having tasted a bottle a week before submitting it. I'm not sure where I went wrong with it as it's my 'house' special, I may have buggered up my hop measurements or they were passed their...

Just dished out my brew at work....

I got asked the other week by one of my colleagues if they could have a keg to sample! It's needless to say their request was not furnished. James

The Great British Home Brew Challenge 2017

By winning the competition the recipe now has value after all they want it. These sort of competitions are prevalent in photography too but now it's got to the point where media outlets approach photographers (professionals included) and ask them to use their work for free! James

The Great British Home Brew Challenge 2017

Bugger that for a laugh, if you win you'll be asked to give your recipe to Thornbridge. If your beer is chosen by Waitrose for national distribution then the winning brewer will be asked to give their recipe to Thornbridge James

    Corny beer line

I leave mine in the line from one week to the next. I find there is a noticeable difference in the first and second pint so I tend to sacrifice one at the start of the evening. James

Selling - Boiling Kettle, Mash Tuns, Fermentation Tubs - All only used once

Afternoon Alex, Would you be willing to split this out if it's still available? I would be looking to buy the boiler (if you can confirm it is 56l) and the temperature controller. I could collect both items this weekend. James

    Spiegelau Ipa glass

Twenty quid for four on www.drinkstuff.com (http://www.drinkstuff.com/products/product.asp?ID=14524#.WAzTuBIrKAk). I've ordered from then and can attest to quick delivery and decent products. James

The boil is on! Here's the grist... James

    AG#13 Summer Pale

The reason I lowered the ABV was because at 6. something % it wasn't really a summer guzzler but more of a slow drink. By lowering the ABV, I can drink more without falling over. As for dry hopping, it's not something I've really thought of but I may well give it a go this time. I...

    AG#13 Summer Pale

Will do, thanks for the advice gents. When you say swop them around, are you referring to the timings or the quantity too? James

    AG#13 Summer Pale

To be honest - an as stupid as it sounds - I have absolutely no idea. I was the Hop and Grape website reading the different ingredients and if it sounded like what I was after, it was what I went for lol.

    AG#13 Summer Pale

Thanks gents. I'm still very new to creating recipes and am one for putting things together as I guess they might balance each other out. As I said, I'm open to ideas. Pittsy, you could be on to something there. I am partial to a whit and had a taste of a particularly good Lambic over...

    AG#13 Summer Pale

Evening all, I'm looking at making a fairly hoppy pale ale for the summer. I was wondering if you'd have a quick look over it for me, please: Original Gravity (OG): 1.062 (°P): 15.2 Final Gravity (FG): 1.016 (°P): 4.1 Alcohol (ABV): 6.09 % Colour (SRM): 7.4...

Taking on board what you guys have posted, I cropped the image. I think it looks much better like this (the colour could do with some work): James

Thanks for that, it's something I hadn't thought of. Especially the picture of the shadowed sea picture. James

    THBF Photography Thread

I took these yesterday in Bosham. I thought the thread was dying a death but as it's still going, I might as well post them up. The composition of the first is all to ****, the subject of the photo was the red boat but I'd forgotten about depth of field until I got home at which time it was to...
