    Amount of Yeast Required

I use that calc as well. Remember that a 23l brew is 6 uk gallons, that's caught me out before and I've ended up under pitching.

Grainfather Whirlpool and Aeration Brewing Paddle

I seen they'd started selling them but wasn't sure what value it'd add as I have an air stone and am far too lazy to whirlpool. Ill be interested to hear how you get on with it tho.

    AG57 Stone IPA-alike

I've had poor efficiency with bigger brews in the past but I'm really lax at doughing in and only take a few minutes. Mind you, I'm having general efficiency issues with all brews again at the minute but I'm not convinced that's down to the grain father.

Seasonal Forum Competition - November 17

I'd think using essence would be fine, it's still a berry based beer. We still need a judge if anyone is interested...

    re-priming

Same for me, hasn't let me down yet although the guidelines on the page for Stout are on the high side for my tastes.

    Anyone tried Ernest hops?

I've just done a brew with 300g Jester if you want to do a swap? It's quite nice, some fruit but also spice.

    Hop matter in suspension

How is the beer when you pour it? Clear or cloudy? Try pouring a glass and sticking it in a normal fridge for an hour, if the hops are in suspension they'll drop out and there will be less bitterness. If nothing else it'll discount a possible issue.

    Hop matter in suspension

If you dry hop wth pellets and they stay in suspension you'll get bitterness, whenever I try a sample of a fairly heavily dry hopped beer before it has been crashed it has an awful bitterness but after a few days cold crash it's fine.

    What did you brew today?

The new filters aren't overly expensive and they're a huge improvement over the original, might be worth looking at?

    AG brews not clearing

I was under the impression that you need to cold crash if you use gelatine, is that not the case?

    AG brews not clearing

 As long as it tastes alright that's the main thing.

    What did you brew today?

Probably a stupid question but how does what cause the hop filter to get displaced? Do you have the original filter or the new one?

    Does it taste alright?

    Very Cheap Bulk Hops!

I guess the risk is whether or not they've been properly stored. If they have been and the info you've read is correct then it does sound like it'd be a reasonable idea. There is a bulk buy sub forum on here I think, might be worth posting something in there?

    Very Cheap Bulk Hops!

Personally, if I was making really hoppy IPAs I wouldn't be using 2015 hops as they'll have lost a bit of their freshness but that's just me.
