Are there any bubbles on the surface of the wort? I’ve always found airlocks to be pants. Did you take an original gravity reading? Bet way to see if anything is happening is to take a gravity reading and see if it is different to the original reading.

If you’re brewing all grain you shouldn’t need to use it as the wort has all the nutrients the yeast needs. I always chuck a little bit in my starters but that’s the only time I use it.

I went at the start of the year and had some amazing beers, Panhead Supercharger was probably the best. If you're in Auckland try and visit Vultures Lane, it's a brilliant pub with plenty of top notch beers.

I brew in the garage with the door open and seem to enjoy it more when it’s freezing cold and the steam is keeping me warm.

I like their experiments but they shouldn’t been seen as conclusive evidence, they usual a one off brew with a small sample. By all means use then as a guide/reference but don’t let them dictate your process.

Forced water back through the pump this morning and nothing came out which is disappointing, I was expecting it to be clogged. I’ll try stripping it down for a proper clean when I get time.
