Ah yes pookiehair, but those pages are the secret map to the golden nectar, all you need is to work your way through them, at about £3 a go, beats buying at the supermarkets!

Well done for getting your first and second lot going Colin, we all have tales of the mistakes we've made. 'Er Indoors keeps reminding me of the time I laid down some Morello Cherry wine on top of a cupboard... in the summer... yes I know, I should have known better! World War 3 broke out as...

    Hello from Elswick Lancashire

Hi jonnyc86, Welcome to the forum. If I may be so bold as to add to 'The Grand Master's' recipe.... from my own experience in a past life, when stripping the elderberries from the stalks, it is an idea to wear gloves, like the surgical latex type you get in the 'Pound' shops, and old clothing...

    Sorry daft question

Hi Scaff, The only daft question is the one you don't ask! Putting wine into a pressure barrel shouldn't be a problem as long as it well cleaned and sterilised and after filling you charged it with a small amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide) to keep the nasties at bay. Theoretically you could...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

I noticed that in one of the videos the glycerin was in a 38ml ASDA bottle, just looked it up and it's current price is 89P!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to have a glass of wine the shock was so great! Boots used to stock it, but for some reason they don't now, but our local Superdrug has 200ml bottles...

I bought the WGJ in ASDA at 4 for £3 but the wife had already got some RGJ in Lidl at 99p a carton I think it was, both are 100 per cent grape juice not from concentrate. I can't remember whether ASDA had the RGJ, wasn't really looking for it I must admit. I did notice that Sainsbury's have...

Very good point, to be honest I hadn't checked before I bought but it's only two cartons, lesson learnt! The juices from Asda seem one of the cheapest at the moment 4 for £3, as with all of them it's a case of reading the label first, Thanks Chippy-Tea.

Being a total newbie to WOW, I noticed several posters have used the Aldi Rio Doro juice, I hace noticed that some has 'Antioxidants' in it so does it have to be boiled before it can be used if at all?

How to deal with stuck wines or slow starters

I know I'm a newbie to the forum, and I suppose I must confess to being a newbie to wine making as I've only just started again after ....ahem years lost in the wilderness of supermarket wine aisles, but I was pleased that Godfrey mentioned Tronozymol. In a past life when I was making wine from...

    Returning to the fold

Hi All, I'm Gorty, from down the south of Hampshire, just returning to the fold of Home Brewing and Winemaking after many years of being lost in the wilderness of the supermarket aisles. (Sad I know.) I used to make a lot of wine quite a few years ago, mostly from any fruit I could convince...
