Another brew down the drain ??

It doesnt smell like mould no and the grain def kept dry. I did pitch a bit hot 24-25deg but it cpuld only have been that temp for an hour or so while fridge cooled. And i only used one pack pf yeast each time so overpitching isnt it i dont think as ive seen many on here say the pitch two packs

Another brew down the drain ??

I did consider that but i pnly opened fv couple times and one batch was in a carboy with obly small opening and again only opened to dryhop so i dnt think so. The chlorine thing is something i will hv to consider if i dodnt rinse enough. Ertainly felt i rinsed enough at the time though

Another brew down the drain ??

First brew was dead pony club attempt and it wS so close. Smelt very hoppy from the simcoe and that boozy kinda solvent smell was just in the background. Just been **** since then to be honest. Same smell each batch. I did a small batch on the stove few weeks ago and it smells ok so far. The...

Extracting harsh stuff thats carrying through but its a guess. You can probably tell im a bit lost. Determined to get it right but dont want to kist...

Another brew down the drain ??

No they were all different but ended up with same smell weirdly. Standard recipes from online or diy dog nothing crazy. Tried to hit relevant temps 60min mash about 65deg then 60min boil, i colled last two using immersion thinking that mby it was becasue i colled a couple overnight but no...

Another brew down the drain ??

Yeah i did wonder that aswell but my last ipa brew for example. 2 weeks in bottles has the same smell. Its like a harsh boozy beer smell. Not the kind you want to drink though. Maybe im expecting too much but it smells rank to me. Even in a glass it smells like a wet bar towel thats been left...

Another brew down the drain ??

I find it hard to describe the smell but its not a nice smell ill say that. Not anything desirable. Harsh chemically when you stick your head in the bucket, prev ones bar an extremely hoppy ipa smelt bad and even that one i feel the hops Were masking it

Another brew down the drain ??

Really ? Hmm wasnt expecting that... i wonder if the smell is just a fermentation by product. This is it in secondary vessel. My prev brews i bottled about day 15 and smell/taste hung around to this day. I wonder if i should leave 3-4 weeks instead of the 2 before expecting a bottleable beer. I...

Another brew down the drain ??

I will add that i did fear i had a fermentation temp control issue but now have inkbird and fridge so it was kept 19deg for first ten days then last few around 20 so its not temp driving the smell. I also added camden tablet to water so not that. Seeing this i fear ive had infection all along...

Another brew down the drain ??

New brewer here in distress. Ive had problems with last 3-4 brews and fear i have infection or wild yeast at play. Ive had 2-3 previously with no visible signs but with a very harsh chemically yeasty weird smell. The latest had the same smell but not as strong but it has got worse over time. Day...

Slight solvent smell to young ipa

Hi. No nothing like that at all. The beer was pretty clear with nothing like that just the nasty smell. I think im going to try better temp control with fridge and will post hopefully with much better results. I hope so anyway or i’ll be gutted haha. Inkbird comes friday. Fingers crossed Thanks...

Slight solvent smell to young ipa

Thats a good idea. I may hv sourced a fridge second hand cheap and looking at inkbird controller on ebay 29.99 , your right though i cpuld try the yeast and see how it turns out. Tried to keep room under 20 but im reading the fb temp could be 10 degrees higher than room temp so yes it would seem...

Slight solvent smell to young ipa

No signs of infection that i can tell and cant be oxidised as i only opened it once. Smelled amazing during initial fermenation. Fruity hoppy smells were great. Two weeks later it smells like poison. Didnt transfer to secondary this time to avoid oxidation and its still rank. Gutted

Slight solvent smell to young ipa

Well my second attempt at ipa has same cider/vinegar solventy smell as last one. Trued to keep room bit cooler this time. At a total loss. Not sure if its a water quality thing as i dont do any water adjustment or still too high temp in room. Only way to know for sure is get a fermentation...

Cant clear cloudy hazy beer ?

Great thanks for advice. Very appreciated. I will definitely take that on board. Makes me think I need to be more organised and tighter with my brew day schedule and reduce the variables that can cause issues. Still learning but loving it :) Thanks again
