    BIAB oatmeal stout- conditioning times?

Hi all I tried a bottle (well 2, I snuck another in) of my first AG stout last night which has been in the bottle since 4th November. Conditioned in warm for 2 and half weeks then in garage. The sample I took was promising but the bottled product were both very underwhelming- not foul, but just...

Tubular Heater for fermentation fridge- cable too thick?

I really wasn't joking when I said idiotic diy skills... I might have a look when the fridge arrives to see if that's doable. I am excited about proper temp control and don't want to ruin the fridge so it is going to be path of least resistance! Thanks all as ever for responses.

Tubular Heater for fermentation fridge- cable too thick?

I am an absolute ***** with diy but my father in law has just said it is a simple enough job apparently and will do it for me, so that's the plan now, thank you!

Tubular Heater for fermentation fridge- cable too thick?

Hiya- thanks for that advice. Should have mentioned It is going to be a brand new frudge used as a spare second fridge so I really want to avoid drilling if possible. Thank you though!

Tubular Heater for fermentation fridge- cable too thick?

Hiya guys I am getting a fridge to use as a fermentation chamber in a couple of weeks time. Received my tubular heater via Amazon Prime yesterday, it is a Dimplex ECOT1FT. I was planning to keep things neat by running cables for the heater and the inkbird probe through the drain hole, but the...

    Nelson's Revenge final gravity

Hiya I've not done this kit but have done Wherry and Admiral's Reserve. What was your starting gravity? To get the approx 4.5 abv estimated on the box; you'd need to have about 1.049 for your SG or so with an FG of 1.014.

    The Tolerant Spouse (including mine)

Mine is pretty good though I think she secretly rues the day she ever listened to my off hand "I'd like to try home brewing" and surprised me with a starter kit...she can't say much as she has bought me the odd bits and pieces of brewing related stuff as birthday / xmas presents to help escalate...

    Fermentation Fridge build

This is my next project too. Aiming to get a fridge next weekend; already spotted a likely heater and a little slatted shoe rack which should be suitable to sit the FV on as I can't be bothered with DIY to do it myself. Can't wait, my only slight concern is a curious 2 yr old getting into the...

    What would you ask for?

Definitely some hops; especially if they have some of the more expensive / harder to find stuff, like Citra / Galaxy, and free malt not to be sniffed at either.

    Understanding instructions

It means you add your hops at the start of your 60 min boil, 15g with 15 mins left, and 15g at flameout which equates to 0 mins left of the boil. Lots of thoughts on when is the primary time for dry hopping, I usually do for 3-5 days before bottling myself.

First All Grain BIAB Brewday water treatment worries!

Hard going being a Utd fan these days but that's football for you. Hard to believe my first Old Trafford game was over 30 yrs ago this year. I am Caerphilly now, but my mum and dad still live about 9 miles from Merthyr!

First All Grain BIAB Brewday water treatment worries!

The thoughts and experience of a fellow new all grain brewer would be really interesting so good stuff!

First All Grain BIAB Brewday water treatment worries!

I'm a new BIAB brewer and really impressed you are considering water profiles already. I've got 2 done now and still feeling I am a ways off tinketing with water; I need to refine other processes first, get a handle on my efficiency etc...but it's a really fun way to brew and I am sure you will...

    Fermentation Fridge

Thanks everyone for replies- I wouldn't mind a second hand fridge at a push, have asked around work and missus' work if anyone wants shot of one, and have joined Freecycle, if I see anything I'll get it there. Otherwise not averse to getting a new one, I had a brainwave to keep an eye on black...

    Fermentation Fridge

I think I probably will, last thing I want is swmbo giving me earache about spilt wort all over the porch if the shelf cracks... I'm guessing the above fridge dimensions- which are H84.5, W50.1, D54cm- will be fine?

    Fermentation Fridge

That's interesting; thanks for the reply. Surprised that the shelf is sturdy enough to support 23L but good to know if ever I decide to up brew volumes!

    Fermentation Fridge

Hi all With surprisingly little nagging; swmbo has agreed to let me get a fridge to ferment my brews inacheers.. I'll be getting a brand new one rather than checking freecycle etc as they are relatively inexpensive, and she is funny about second hand stuff. I already have an Inkbird ITC 308-S...

Base Malt for IPAs and Pale Ales

I was going to ask the same question. I have only done 2 BIAB's, an IPA and an Oatmeal Stout, and used MO for both. I'm planning number 3 and started looking for ingredients. I had stuck with MO again, via the Malt Miller, but was wondering if something would be a more suitable base malt for a...
