    HERMS

Perhaps build the heat exchanger and test it out with the inkbird controller with water.. if you manage to control the output temperature of the hex within 1c of target ok i would suggest that you can use it..

    Swing top bottles

If i wasn't clear.. Yes buy the bottles with beer in, and while the quality or mass of glass used in bottles used for selling beers in has dropped over the years, if they can with hold the pressure of a fully conditioned beer mid summer they will hold fine as long as you bottle when primary has...

    Swing top bottles

while your collecting nice swingtops by drinking the contents 3 for a fiver is the usual supermarket price ;) use pet pet bottles from the recycle bin.. a few 2l bottles per batch makes the job a lot easier/shorter both cleaning sanitising and filling..

    Further itc1000vl wiring question

ideal candidates for dc transformers are any eu, us, or other forigien standard adaptors shipped with stuff that you never use..

    Further itc1000vl wiring question

if thats a constant current led driver the 1000ma it could push out could fry your controller, a more traditional transformer as found inside most plug in dc adaptors might be a safer bet. if your boxing then you can crack open a spare phone charger and cobble it together inside an enclosure...

Connecting wort chiller to water supply

without clips or clamps to secure the friction fit of tube onto pipe BE VERY MINDFUL to avoid blockages in the tube, Never accidently stand on the out flow tube, and watch it for kinks and folds as the tube will soften with hot water expelled through it. edit - in a pinch a cable tie pulled...

    Further itc1000vl wiring question

your link is dead but the idea is sound enough, just be mindful of total power draw if using 13a plugs/sockets and are employing 3kw+ elements.. But you would NEED to supply with the input live and neutral. add a 2nd lego rick if necessary..

Connecting wort chiller to water supply

7mm OD??? thats a very thin tube, most folk use 10mm OD sft copper tube for an IC?? some 8mm but circa 7mm?? thats could be brake line pipe? which may be a tad to thin to be usefull?? if its 8mm OD tube perhaps? (fingers crossed) then you can mod the in/out feeds with adaptors to bring the...

    Newbie Help

if its the first time brewing the kit i would suggest perhaps not enhancing perhaps beyond substituting dme/lme for any sugar additions required. That way you will have a yardstick against which to judge and will have an inkling of what sort of enhancements will be to your taste..

    Cheap, disposable bottle/keg alternatives?

some supermarkets bottle their tap water in pop style pet bottles, once a few years ago i was given a 3 hour window to bottle a brew and pack for a week away and i had no clean bottles/kegs available i bought 12x 2l bottles of tesco tap water @ 11p a bottle, and while the bottles collapsed...

    Noob questions about extra yeast

Just grow the population of yeast you have ;) Not a big job simply use preboiled -chilled water to make a circa 1.040 solutrion with dme or sugar (make 100g of sugar upto 1l ) and use a sanitised 2-3l pet bottle to mix and shake air into the solution prior to pitching. and over the next 24...

Adding hops to already brewed beer?

chase down hipster tea n coffee suppliers for diy drawstring empty tea/coffee bags and make your own 'craft' hop bags

    Cold crash

Primarily used with beers its simply at the end of primary fermentation, chilling a brew down to ice cold temps will promote more clarity as the cold helps suspended solids drop out of suspension quicker than when warm ;) Also when kegging the reduction in beer temp aids the conditioning by...

    Conical fermenter

the conical shape isnt going to reduce the volume of waste beer significantly at our volume levels, and unlike commercial concerns time isnt money so much. So the benefit of a nominally faster primary due to optimum fv shape has little value to the home brewer imho If your yeast harvesting and...

    Modifying a buffalo boiler

Perhaps try adding an insulation jacket and attempt a good ol safe no active heat input mash if scorching is occurring during the mash, your probably denaturing the bottom 1/4 of your grainbill if its getting that hot.. for the boil, a simple power controllercan be made from a resistance...

    First AG brew, first questions

ahh 1st mod i made was to extend the cfc feed hose as to not be restricted to sitting it atop the kettle, simply assumed everyone did similar ;) its not an ideal spot especially if adding late hops And want to sanitise your cfc..

    First AG brew, first questions

if you have a 15min hop addition sit the protoflock atop it.. otherwise create a dummy 15min hop addition in the app for your reminder.. my g/f is a mk1 so i use an kitchen alarm for my timings;) but dont you recirculate the boil thru your cfc @ the 15min from end milestone to sanitise??
