    M84 Bohemian Lager stalled

It had a good thrashing with a paddle for about a minute. Some say it's not such a big deal for dried yeast. I gently roused the yeast last week. Will check it tomorrow, getting nervous how long it's been in the FV now.

Trub stuck on my Grainfather element

Keep it wet. I give it a scrape when it's coming to boil and a couple of times during the boil. Once I've emptied the hops from the boiler I add some water and give it a scrub with a brush. After running the cleaner I find a final scrub with a non stick scourer gets it clean easily.

    Bench Bottle Capper

Are they both the same by any chance? A uncrimped cap shouldn't fit inside the smaller one

    M84 Bohemian Lager stalled

Thanks for replies I mashed at 65 for an hour followed by 75 mashout (grainfather). Water was 2:1 RO with small acid and calcium chloride addition (following Strange Steve recommendation of my water). Brew day all went well. Brewed in fridge with probe taped to FV. Was looking forward to this...

    M84 Bohemian Lager stalled

No ideas? I'm loathed to throw in a knotty after using 2 packs of lager yeast.

    Scorching on grandfather

I normally scrape 2 or three times during the boil. I think most of the build-up is from getting to the boil, I never got round to scraping after that on Saturday and the element was clean where I'd scraped. I find if you never let it dry it comes off easy enough.

    M84 Bohemian Lager stalled

Hi all, does anyone have any experience of M84 stalling? I recently brewed a 25l of pilsner based on GH recipy that came out at 10.48. I added 2 packs of rehydrated M84 at 10 C. Initially fermentation was fine and I ramped up to 18 C after it dropped below 1.030 however it's only got down to...

    Thermometer recommendations please

I use a thermopen (same as you see most chefs using). You get a reading in a couple of seconds unlike the cheap ones. They start at about £30 but pocket size. Great for steaks too...

Quick question - mangrove jack's kit

Making a starter I.e. sugar or dme will put a dried yeast in a worse condition than just throwing it in. Fill a the manufacturer instructions

    Fridge recommendations

Hotpoint RLA30 (also have a RLA36 which I think is a bit newer but same size). Will happily get below freezing on max. Bought both for around £25 each on fleaBay.

    Corny post problem

I always have a squirt bottle is starsan around and find a quick squirt helps fit the disconnect easily.

Cold sparge or full volume boil on all in one system

I've heard lots say cold sparging works but for the sale of a HLT which I already have it would add time to get the wort to boiling point.

    Grainfather chiller hose connection

It's the adapter that normally come with the male hozelock part to fit to older outside taps (i think its 3/8" to 1/2" bsp). I cut one side off to clear the tap.

Great link. I wonder how sanitary his top pocket where he keeps his hydrometer is before tipping back the measured sample.

New Allgrain set up starting in garage

Just been used. By throttling back to improve efficiency I managed to cool 23l with about 40l of water from the tap.

New Allgrain set up starting in garage

Ah, didn't catch that I just have a male quick release on my GF CFC (on another valve for throttling) and just use the hose.
