    Fritz's Weissbier

(also, sorry if that's too much detail - I'll get the hang eventually!)

    Fritz's Weissbier

Thought I'd write up my brewday - second all grain brew. This one is a weissbier, a copy of one from Jon Finch bought at the Malt Miller. Weissbier is my favourite style, thanks to my background (there's a reason I'm called Fritz!), so hope to try a few of these. Grain Bill 2kg Crisp Pale...

    Fast fermenting

It is mj m20. Hope I get the latter experience!

    Fast fermenting

Hi all I did a brewday yesterday of a weissbier, which I'll write up. Got a slightly disappointing OG of 1.044. But pitched my yeast (Mangove Jacks) into the conical fermenter, set it to 20 degrees to get it going and off I went. This morning, airlock was bubbling away, so dropped the...

    Cornu keg connections

Worked a treat for me as well Thanks @pms67 for help setting up - feel a lot more confident now

    How to condition/prime

The first pour. I conditioned for a while in the fermenter, then (per a different thread) finished it off under pressure in a corny keg. Waiting for the regulator for the beer line, but it's been 4-5 weeks. Tastes really good and clean. Some light fruitiness coming through from the hops...

    Cornu keg connections

Malt Miller have suggested the following https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/stainless-steel-disconnect-with-flow-control/ Anyone got any thoughts or experience?

    Cornu keg connections

Do the quick disconnects just jam onto the ports? Sorry these are stupid questions, but seriously I have instructions for the regulator and nothing else. And everything, video or otherwise that I find assumes some level of knowledge about how all the bits work

    Cornu keg connections

I tried that. They skipped over how to actually connect it up. I'm still not sure how to attach the quick disconnects - I really wish BrewUK sent out instructions

    Cornu keg connections

Cheers! I will probably have to use the tap for now as I need to keg up very soon. Any idea what it was you bought to fix it up, or shall I get in touch with Malt Miller?

    Cornu keg connections

To help with my first all grain brew, I got bought a brewuk corny kit (https://www.brewuk.co.uk/cornelius-1keg-starter-set.html) But it comes with no instructions, except how to connect the regulator to the CO2 bottle. Everyone everywhere seems to just know how this works. Is there a guide...

    How to condition/prime

I'm really enjoying it - I found the brew day busy but fun, and I didnt need additional distractions to keep me occupied. Will keep you all posted!

    How to condition/prime

Thanks a lot - the conditioning temp is specified as 10degC in the recipe, though others seem to think I should crash it to 4-5. I'll get there in a couple of days and dump then!

    How to condition/prime

@terrym @dan125 the brew is going well! Completing the D rest shortly - will then dump the trub. Assume I just open the valve and keep going until clearer beer starts to emerge? When I sample above the cake I get a hazy, but lager-tasting liquid - below comes out looking like pure yeast...

    How to condition/prime

An update (and happy Christmas!): 9 days on, and the gravity is still dropping, currently 1.015. The target FG is 1.009 so I think I'm closing in fairly quickly. I will be trying to do a 2 day diacytyl rest at 20 degrees (up from the current 10). I assume I want to ramp this up slowly over a...

    How to condition/prime

Thanks to everyone on both my threads. I did my first AG brew today abd used a Grainfather. Got an SG of 1.048, so pretty close to the 1.044 I needed I think the grainfather instructions could be a bit clearer and the ones for the chiller were maddening as they left out including washers on...

Grainfather counterflow connection to kitchen tap

The one advantage if the collection of hoses was that it made filling all the vessels with liquids incredibly simple. Plus, I'd already bought it!

    How to condition/prime

I have, yeah. It's just nerve-wracking on new kit and with the all grain bit. I know the pils is tricky, but figured I could learn a lot in a single brew.

    How to condition/prime

The drops are a lot easier, but sometimes the doses in the bags are just a little lower than needed. Tricky stuff

    How to condition/prime

Yes, I've got some incoming but I've read up a lot about it and think I now need to 'fail' a bit to make more progress Not expecting the first brew to go super smoothly
