Quick little build (adjustable whirlpool arm)

Never seen those before but they look just perfect. Will get one next time I need to drill. Thanks for the tip.

    The Homebrew Twang experiment.

Hi, I feel your pain I also have a young family, however I do manage to keep up my supply doing AG, Perhaps if you can't manage to get on with kits we could look at how to shorten your brew session. https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/shortening-the-brew-day.28366/ Few bits and pieces...

Crystal & Munich Malt in APA/AIPA?

Yes, sometimes up to 15% Munich and then possible also a little crystal but not much only arround 5% and usually the lighter end of the crystal spectrum

Quick little build (adjustable whirlpool arm)

Yes this is pretty much the exact method I use. The bit I struggle with is the first pilot hole. I just keep snapping drill bits. I much prefer doing the holes for heating elements as I can just go to town with the angle grinder then use a 40mm Q-max to get a nice neat opening.

Quick little build (adjustable whirlpool arm)

Though I would just post this up in case anyone was thinking of doing the same. Everything done in stainless steel. First I had to drill my kettle, pain in the f*****g ***, if anyone has any tips on how to make this any easier I would appreciate it. Thaen made myself a bulkhead out of some...

    Fermentation temperature emergency

What FV do you have? I would prefer the thermowell to reach as close to the centre of the liquid as possible but I'm not sure it's entirely necessary.

    Fermentation temperature emergency

You are still well within the temp range for this yeast even if it was a little higher, I prefer to keep it constant rather than moving it up and down to much. As with all things brewing others will have a different opinion.

    Fermentation temperature emergency

US-05 should still give you a nice clean fermentation at 22. I would keep it there, shouldn't get any off flavours. Have you thought about using a thermowell, would stop this sort of accident and also be slightly more precise at measuring the wort temp.

    Help needed scaling recipes

I have never really used extract but from above this is the important bit So to get 5 gallons looks like 0.85kg Floor-Malted Bohemian Wheat (DE) 1.99kg Floor-Malted Bohemian Pilsner (DE) As for water not sure depends on how much you boil off and how much gets left behind in your kettle...

    Mashing Equipment Help

Ok thanks for the info. I did make a manifold but I use it for the sparge. I can't see how the false bottom would loose me any efficiency but maybe I will swap things round and see if I can gain a little bit.

    Mashing Equipment Help

Is that for full brew or mash efficiency. I made a false bottom for mine. Maybe I would do better with a manifold

    Mashing Equipment Help

Is this the one you have? What efficiency can you achieve, I am struggling a bit and would like to get mine up by about 10-15%

    Help choosing a wort chiller

Before SS was first used all boiling vessels where copper (Hence why boil kettles are often called coppers) I think the fact that it is only in contact for a small amount of time helps it not be an issue. I have also read a little bit of copper in the boil is a good thing, but can't now find...

Wanted Corny keg and associated equipment to get a keezer up and running

You probably won't find a better price than this (Also do them individually for £42) even second hand from private sellers. Will need a good scrub and maybe some new o-rings. However I have had 6 that needed nothing more than a good clean...
