    Kegerator question

I have a tall fridge with 4 Cornies in and want to add taps onto the front of the door. If the pipes to the taps are all inside the fridge, and I keep the fridge quite cold (5 deg C) then can I leave the taps connected and the beer in the pipes won't end up getting infected and ruin the beer...

    How do you brew?

Klarstein Maischfest with my own pump for recirc which I mainly use for mashing out, verlauf and pumping to my conical fermenter. I have a plastic tub with elements added in for my HLT, controlled by a Inkbird IPB-16. I also use a hop spider. I aim to either increase to a larger all-in-one or...

    Calling all Klarstein Owners.

I was hoping to recirc with an external pump - which is what I did, so there was loss of heat which I was hoping the heater would combat. Which it didn't. Perhaps I could only recirc when mashing out or for Verlauf and mash as I normally would before I purchased the Klarstein, when I was using...

    Calling all Klarstein Owners.

My Klarstein varies by 3 deg centigrade - it reaches the desired temperature, then turns off and the heater doesn't turn back on until it has dropped at least 3 deg C. It then turns on and doesn't appear to overshoot and reaches desired temperature. So my mash varied by 3 degrees. The boil was...

    Klarstein Maischfest Mash Kettle?

I added a pump to recirculate but the temperature controller on the mash tun allows a huge 3 deg centigrade drift lower than the desired temperature, which means my mash temperature also varied by that much. This is also a problem when boiling as I needed to set the desired temperature to 103...

Klarstein Maischfest - Mash Water calculation

That's pretty comprehensive! Thank you. I think my biggest query is basically, how to account for the larger gap (compared with the Grainfather) between the inner grain holder cylinder and the outer as lots of water sits there adding heat, but not really having much to do with the grain as it...

Klarstein Maischfest - Mash Water calculation

Hmm - I would have thought that was a little low as a rule of thumb (obviously the grain you are using and other factors would effect things anyway). It suggests less water than the Grainfather calculation - so you use 13.1l of water for 4kg and Grainfather calc suggests 14.3l, and for 5kg...

Klarstein Maischfest - Mash Water calculation

I have purchased a Klarstein Maischfest and am trying to workout how much water to use when mashing. I know the Grainfather calculation for mash water is 2.7 x grain weight + 3.5 (so for 5kg it would be 17l of water). However the gap between the inner metal grain holder (not sure of the name)...

    Klarstein Maischfest Mash Kettle?

I am hoping the heater will keep the water at a reasonably constant temperature whilst recirculating.

    Klarstein Maischfest Mash Kettle?

I think I will do similar - I may use a sparging arm and a pump rather than a jug. Not sure yet. Thanks Pete

    Klarstein Maischfest Mash Kettle?

Hi, I have ordered a Maischfest and am trying to work out how I would sparge most efficiently, before it arrives - preparation is key! I presume you put in the required liquid for the grain, as I normally would with my 3xtub system, and then dough in, stir and wait with it set to e.g. 66deg...
