The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

Here are a few old and current shows that I found to be excellent; Farscape - Classic Sci Fi series ft some amazing Jim Henson stuff. Stranger Things - Found on Netflix, think of the Goonies, but actually good. Dexter - Thriller about a serial killer that works for the police. Amazing cast...

NE IPA too ambitious for first go at AG?

I'll just chime in here about water. My local water authority post my water as being hard, yet I have had the water tested by two independent labs and they both report that it is soft. It's worth getting a report done, I used Murphy and Sons and Phoenix analytical. Of the two I'd recommend...

    Another new boy

Welcome, I think it's great to get a handle on the basics with kits. That way you can learn without any considerable financial investment. In saying that, all grain doesn't have to be expensive if you don't mind a bit of DIY. Another consideration is space. Enjoy the forum!

I'm currently working on the Grizzly Brews 3VKR (3 Vessel Kettle Rims ) At the moment I brew using a kettle and 36.5L stainless mash tun. Kettle doubles up as HLT. I've got all the kit ready to upgrade to the following; Cygnet 27L HLT Stainless 36.5 L Mash Tun Cygnet 27L Kettle *2 24V Pumps...

Home Brew Competition - July 17

I'll probably be sending my entries out together sometime next week. One is well lagered, the other will have been lagered for just over a week by the time you get it. It may well get two weeks Lagering by the time you drink it.

Hi, I'm new here and would like to introduce my beer pouring channel

I can see how some might find it appealing . I mean, I'd rather watch a beer being poured than watch half of the other tripe on YouTube. Whilst not the most exciting content, it's better than what a lot of the famous YouTube folks get paid for.

    Experimental 105/220

You'll find that the right level of carbonation really lifts the hop aroma and brightens the taste. Too much carbonation and the flavours are thin and washed out, too little and the flavours are there but muted and dull. This might go some way to explain why they need a little time in the bottle...

Should my yeast look like this on day 2?

A little late to the party, but yes, perfectly normal.

I have an entry for this, I've got a few bottles of the my lager that placed 3rd in category at the Welsh National Homebrew Competition

    Worst beer you've made

I remember making Cooper's Smoked something or other about 10 years ago. Disgusting. It over carbed, went thin and was just awful. Put me off brewing for a while.

    Welsh National Homebrew Competition 2017

All very respectable scores. I am just really looking forward to the feedback, which was my primary incentive for entering, as I know my current process lacks a decent degree of control on the fermentation side  Also, I'd like to say thanks to the forum and it's contributors for...

    Welsh National Homebrew Competition 2017

Very well done, it's nice to see other forum members placing :thumb: I scored 39/50 for my Strong Bitter and 33/50 for the lager. All I can say is that there must have been some really good entries in there. Everyone that entered deserves a huge well done. It takes some courage to put your...

    Welsh National Homebrew Competition 2017

Nabbed 3rd Place in 02A International Pale Lager with Disco Biscuit. Originally brewed as a German Pils, but in my mind it didn't have enough hop bite to enter it as one. Very Pleased!

    Brewing in warm weather

If you can, have a go with a Belgian yeast or a wheat beer yeast. They can cope with much warmer temperatures and still produce beer with desireable character. Obviously desireable depends on whether or not you like Belgian beer. Here are some dried yeasts that perform well when it's warm...

    Secondary or not ?

Necessary if you're making a big beer and need to age it and keep it off the yeast cake. Or if you plan on Lagering a smaller brew in bulk. For anything else it's optional depending on your thoughts/feelings about clarity. I regularly leave my brews on the yeast cake for three weeks or more...
