Put the mash on at 7:30 and had tea then went on a walk with the dog, i havn't started sparging yet so its a nice long mash. Smells really good, gonna be a late one
This is a mash extract kit that i got from runcorn homebrew supermarket, you can add either dme or marris otter which is what ill be doin. It doesnt say what grains and hops are included so i cant post the recipe im afraid, i will be adding 4.5k of marris otter. The commercial version is 6% so...
Haha no i didnt know that, thanks for all the ideas guys i like the idea of a traditional IPA and maybe the stout too as i have alot of chocolate malt and roasted barley lying around.
Cheers mate, ive not yet been able to make anything she will drink actually so might give the strawberry wine a go. I made a couple of fruit cider kits but they were pretty terrible
I have recently asked my girlfriend to marry me, she said yes luckily. The wedding is going to be next april and i would like to brew a beer and put it away to be opened around the time of the wedding. I want it to be something special or unusual, i may do 2 or more different brews for this as...
scratch that, i applied online for redelivery tomorrow and the bloke turned around and came back, top marks dpd. Everything looks great apart from one packet of hops was not vaccum sealed im assuming it got punctured in transit so i have put it straight in the freezer. Overall very happy with...
Ah poop! Took the dog out for a walk and missed the delivery. Will have to get it redelivered, was hoping to brew tomorrow so thats probably out the window
I use both kits and brew all grain, i generally do an AG batch and a kit on the same brew day to get 2 beers going at the same time, i generally add hops and extra malt, or sometimes change the yeast or steep some grains for kits to improve them and alot of them have been great beers. I will...
I got the kit from runcorn homebrew supermarket, the blueball brewery is right next door and they sell extract kits for alot of their beers as well as beers from 4ts brewery which is also in the same block of units, you either add dme or marris otter. Interestingly though the hops grains and...
I know your pain, i had 4 on the bounce quite recently i think it was down to a heavily scratched fv that obviously wasnt clean enough. Sounds like youve got plenty to keep you going though
Ive got a black sheep clone planned next with the new ingredients, but already got a mash kit for blueball brewery spank IPA so will be doing that first
yeh i got a 25k sack of mo too crushed as i dont have a grain mill. In total i got 10 different grains and 9 varieties of hops along with s04 and s05 yeast. I just picked grains and hops that ive seen used in alot of recipes. My friend will be using some of them also, hes doesnt have the room...
Just spent 96 quid on our sponsors site, got more grains and hops than you can shake a stick at, along with a coopers recipe pack and some yeasts. Ill post a pic of it when it arrives, im very exited on planning out about 6 months worth of brews haha
Looks good mate, that was one of my first kits, i found it went pretty clear and wasnt massively wheaty, i used 1kg of wheat dme. It was lovely though, great session beer, it all went in about 3 weeks
Id worry about leaving it that long in secondary, id start saving bottles mate its always good to have some put away for a rainy day when the barrels are dry
Some people add a very small amount of sugar to the secondary just to put a blanket of co2 on it, i dont secondary anymore after a couple of infections. I generally just leave the beer in the fv for 2 weeks then keg now.
