Thanks for that. How much would you recommend per pint?

Back sweetening Turbo Cider- I can't seem to get it right.

Hello, I could use some advice regarding backsweetening. I have made a few batches of turbo cider, and I haven't been able to perfect it. With my last brew, I used youngs wine sweetener, but I felt it left a strange aftertaste. So, whats your prefered method?

    Fermented hot sauce

Thanks, it came out really well. I think about 1.25 litres. The bottles i used are 250ml (I think!). And i ended up with 5 full ones.

    Fermented hot sauce

Not strictly on topic, but I have made a really nice hot sauce. Not fermented though. Recipe isn't my own, but its one of the nicest hot sauces I have ever tried. 10-15 Scotch Bonnet peppers, finely chopped. 6 large tomatoes, roasted and de-skinned. 8 cloves garlic, roasted in skins then...

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

Thanks for that, I have turned the heater off. Unsure when i should remove the propagator lid, I have watched a few youtube growers, and it seems some uncover their seedings sooner. Yes, all of my Hungarian Hot Wax germinated, but only 1 or 2 of my Super Tramp and Bolivian Rainbow. When they...

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

I have followed ChiliChumps beginners guide on YouTube. I have a couple of questions, if anyone could help me. This is my current setup and chilli seedlings: I have planted a variety, I had hoped for a few more to come through, but hopefully I will get some decent seedlings to pot on. I was a...

    Cleaning Growler Kegs

Yep, thanks for that. I did read that bleach probably wasn't the way to go. I shall give it a soak with sodium percarbonate.

    Cleaning Growler Kegs

Hello, Made a bit of an error, I forgot to wash out one of my 5l growler kegs after use. Just slipped my mind, and as I have been bottling most of my beer over the last few months, it has been sat for awhile. After a quick swill, there is still a bit of visible residue on the bottom. I...

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

Ah fantastic. Yep, I shall just get some seedling compost and see how it goes! I think once I get them going, I will then think about fertilisers, etc. What size pots will I need to transfer my seedlings after they have come up? I take it you have to re-pot a couple of times, as each plant grows?

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

Thanks for that, I did read some good reviews about that variety. It seem that Apache also is a common recommendation for first time growers. I will have a look on there website, I thought I should probably get a couple of varieties, and see how it goes. Can I ask your opinion on potting...

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

Going to give this a try I think, have read up a bit about how to grow them over the weekend, but could use a bit of advice. Especially as I haven't grown anything before! My plan was to use a heated propagator, B&Q have a cheap one for around £20. Then use a t5 strip light, to give them a bit...

    Coopers stout, brewing short advice.

Thanks for that, Yep I might give it a try at 10 or 12 litres without any sugar. I do fancy modifying it a bit, so will have to look around and see what others recommend.

    Coopers stout, brewing short advice.

Hello, I have picked up a Coopers stout and could use some advice. I usually brew small batch BIAB style, but fancied giving a kit a try, just for a change. My question is, how short can I brew a Coopers stout? Due to my small batch brewing, I only use 10 or 15 litre fermenting buckets and...

    Greg Hughes recipes

Just brewed the Weissbier. Looking forward to see how it turns out. I shall also brew the American wheat beer next week. I finished the last bottle of English barley wine, a fantastic beer. Reminds me of Sarah Hughes Snowflake.

    Brewzilla advice.

Thanks for the reply, I did consider getting a BIAB boiler instead. It certainly is cheaper, and I am already familiar with the method. However, I did like the idea of the pump. I see there is a 'whirpool' feature, which helps clear the beer. But then again, I have read that the pump system...

    Brewzilla advice.

Hello, For the last 12 months, I have been brewing small 8-ish litre brews, BIAB style on my stove top. I have really enjoyed it, made some good beer, and its been a great introduction into all-grain brewing. I am now looking to upgrade my kit, and I am considering getting a Brewzilla. I...

    Medicinal tasting beer?

Yep, I will do that. Shame to chuck it, plus I only brew in small batches, so bottling isn't too much of a chore. I will crack one open in a couple of weeks, and see how it is.

    Medicinal tasting beer?

Ah, so....it could be a few things that cause it, but non of them fixable. Was thinking about just bottling it and see how it goes, but probably not worth it.

    Medicinal tasting beer?

Hello, I have a ginger beer currently in the primary, its a recipe from the Greg Hughes book. It has reached the final gravity after 2 weeks. I gave it a quick sample when taking the gravity reading, and it has quite a medicinal taste, with no hint of ginger. Any ideas as to why I am...
