More Sparging Questions - Batch Sparging

It will need some insulation, indeed. The lid is just a thin piece of plastic, whilst the body is kind of semi insulated. I'm planning on making a proper lid with ply, polystyrene, insulation and shiny camping material and then also wrapping the whole thing up with more insulation. I think I'll...

More Sparging Questions - Batch Sparging

Bit of a thread resurrection but better than starting a new one :D My AG kit is coming together and this morning, just as I was about to buy an Ebay-sourced cooler for conversion to mash tun I had a bit of a brainwave. Stuck at the back of my garden shed is a large, wheeled, plastic container...

    Northants Brew Club - Towcester

Great! When the current county season finishes in March I'll come along. In the meantime it'd be good to meet up, we might even know each other :D - I was a very young landlord of the Sun Inn as was back in '93 - '95, and my last pub before I gave up that game was the Barley Mow in...

Using a lid on a big stockpot

Hey all - I am currently happily supping my way through some Woodfordes kits by way of reintroduction to the wonders of home brewing (they're not bad at all) but I'm getting stuff together to go AG. Now: I want to use a large ally stock pot as my kettle. 60/70 litres in size, as I think I'll...

    Glass vs plastic

Just ask your local boozer to keep aside all the Magners or Bulmers bottles that they'd otherwise be chucking into the bin or recycling. They'll be free and ideal in terms of size and strength.

    AG v kits

    That's a dangerous analogy :D

Is there such a thing as a decent larger kit ?

Do you bottle-condition it? And if so, how long is optimum? I want a couple of decent batches ready for the summer months, so am prepared to do them good and early if necessary.

Is there such a thing as a decent larger kit ?

I'm interested in this. Lager was all I used to do in my previous brewing life, but now I've come back to it I am primarily an ale drinker so that's what I'll concentrate on brewing. However I'd like to find a lager kit that is really worth making. My intention is to brew the first batch in...

    'Allo!

That's the kind of thing I wanted to hear :D Even with kits?

    'Allo!

Hi there :thumb: Thought I'd say hi before I started to bombard everyone with daft questions  I used to do a lot of brewing in the late eighties and early nineties as a teenager/student. Used to do pilsener lager kits and whilst I got very efficient at it, it was always an acquired...
