Beerworks Founders Double American IPA & Sierra

@OldSchoolSi - How did this one turn out in the end? I'm hovering over the 'buy' button on the Love Brewing site atm, and I'm curious to see if this kit can successfully balance all that alcohol and hop madness... Thinking that I could bottle in 330mls, but have just done the calcs and that...

    Pressure barrel idea

You can of course release some of the pressure by unscrewing the cap a little until you hear a hiss (then tighten again quickly). That usually calms my PBs down for the first few pints...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Amity Brew, Bigger Boat Juicy Double IPA. Beautiful: hazy and hoppy. At 8٪ it's punchy for mid-afternoon but what the heck. It's Sunday!

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Thanks @Merkin and @Ezza for the recommendations. I was a hair's breadth away from brewing the BW Will's Olde English Ale in the autumn last year, but opted instead for the Festival Old Suffolk. It was a mistake - I've enjoyed Festival kits in the past (Golden Stag and Landlord) - but this one...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

@Merkin - you won't be disappointed - it has a really moreish biscuity taste, and great head retention. I haven't done any other Beerworks kits yet, but plan to this year. Which would you recommend? I'm open to anything as long as the quality is there. Amazing that this level can be achieved...

    Feeling Hoppy

Yes, if it was stable for a couple of days you should be fine. 😀

    Feeling Hoppy

@Rover69 - be careful with the idea that you can control the strength of the brew by bottling before the fermentation is complete - it doesn't really work like this; the fermentation will just continue in the bottle instead (powered by your priming sugar), so you'll end up with the same strength...

    Feeling Hoppy

This is good advice, Andy. If you've kept your bottles around a warm house, I'm guessing your secondary fermentation should be nearly done now, so if nothing's gone pop, you're probably in the clear. athumb.. What you might find, however, is that your beer 'gushes' like a shaken coke can when...

    Pb cooling methods

You can always fill a plastic bottle or two from the barrel, then chuck em in the fridge instead. I do this quite happily - as long as you're going to get on and drink them, this works a treat (think of it as a personal commitment!). It's also a good way to hand out your beer to non-brewing...

Bulldog Premium Evil Dog Double IPA

Yes, the JIPA should restore your faith in brewing! There's little more frustrating than a rubbish brew....all that effort, then the reluctance/guilt when you finally chuck it all away...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Havent tried this one yet. How does this stack up against the MJ Juicy IPA? Have done that and the Raspberry Berliner Weiss, and they've both been total winner. Now torn between the Simcoe and the Brut IPAs for the next one...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

I'm on a Beerworks Golden Rocket Strong Pale. Been in the bottle for just over a month and I'm mightily impressed. Lots of body and a lovely silky mouth feel. Absolutely pub standard beer. It's quite unusual, being a 'regular' pale (not a hoppy IPA) and strong, at around 6%. Not surprising since...

    What did you brew today?

A Beerworks Golden Rocket Strong IPA went into the FV about four hours ago. It's kicked off already! Lots of malt extract too - 4.2kg in total. Reckon it'll be a chewy number.

    Beer kit recommendations

+1 for Mangrove Jacks Juicy IPA. I've never brewed a kit that's tasted so good just 1 week after barreling. It's genuinely delish. Starting to think I should back2back brew another so the stocks don't deplete prematurely. Youngs AIPA - I was pleased with this, too, but I don't think it's quite...
