My first (and hopefully last) experience making skunky beer was letting my 'milky' plastic Fermenter be exposed to sunlight. So, yes there'd be a problem with a pressure barrel and UV.

Do u clean your wort chiller

I'll scrub my wort chiller only really when I replace the braided tubing, which is every few years. Other than that, a good rinse after use will do.

    Overshooting FG

I don't have a very sophisticated brew kit, but I had a similar problem a few years ago and discovered my mash thermometer was reading about 5°C too high. Since then, I compare my thermometers once a year to see if any are giving bad readings.

Let it decarbonate and get to room temp.

    Bottlers of the World, Unite!

I built my first kegerator a month before Christmas with the promise of extra refrigeration room for holiday meals with the added benefit of draft beer. She was sold on it and I'm still married!

Your considerations are well thought-out. I both bottle and keg depending upon what I'm making and if I'm ageing it of not. Regarding point #3.... Draft beer in my kitchen was a savior during lock-down. At one point I even bought a wine-kit and carbonated a Rose. I have two taps and will...

    Cleaning bottles

Only if you don't like the taste of what you're using for sterilising! In all seriousness though, if you're using a chemical for sterilising, then follow the instructions. I'd be just as concerned about making sure the soap from the dishwasher is gone since soap taste is noticeable and avoidable.

Pre-isomerised reduced hop extracts are used to add bitterness in low-bitterness beers after fermentation if they are to be packaged in clear or green bottles. If there is bitterness in the beer not from pre-isomerised reduced hops, the UV light component in sunlight reacts with the iso-α-acid...

Anyone made a home made kegerator?

Art with regard to forced carb? Yes and no from my experience. Yes in my humble opinion when trying to carb as quick as possible. I've used the method of cranking-up the PSI and rolling the keg on it's side to get it carbed in a few hours a few time. Most often I do a patient carbonation...

Anyone made a home made kegerator?

You usually don't use priming sugar in a corny keg, but you can. You generally force carb a corny keg. There will always be at least a bit of sediment at the bottom of a corny keg in any case, but the loose stuff comes out first since the dip tube for the keg's outlet draws from the bottom of...

Anyone made a home made kegerator?

Yeah, you're not the first to say that! Thankfully, the guarantee was 10* years and not 10 years though. The * is the price for an engineer to visit which was more than half the cost of the fridge. I'd consider it a calculated risk that seems to have worked out!

Anyone made a home made kegerator?

Hi Darren. A kegerator is worth the effort. My Mark 1 kegerator built from a refurbished fridge off of Gumtree had taps in the door. I had some issues with the door moving the beer lines and eventually loosening them. The compressor eventually died on the Mark 1 and I put my Mark 2 kegerator...
