What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Looks much darker in the pic than it is! A lovely thirst quenching pale ale

    7l pot for 5l batch

I‘ve had success doing similar BIAB in the past but it’s very tight, Just top up as mentioned. I’d be more inclined to do partial mash or extract in that size pot though. The other option is to mash in a bucket/FV and then pour the wort into the pot/kettle to boil. Note you can top up with...

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

My GMC Pale ale….this is one of the best beer recipes I think I’ve ever come up with! Nice level of bitterness and malt coming coming through with lovely fruity hop profile. The smell is just amazing!

    Stout taste with temperature

It’s personal preference! I too prefer stout warmer than ales. I keep my kegs in the garage and tend to put my pale ale kegs in the fridge and leave my stouts and porter outside. Usually between 10 and 15 degrees depending on time of year.

    Mungoswells grain

I sent them an email and Angus got back to me and said just to let him know what I need and when. He quoted £25.80 for a 20kg sack either crushed or uncrushed. They do pale ale, lager and wheat malt.

    Mungoswells grain

Hi, I‘m thinking about getting a sack of crushed grain from Mungoswells, probably their pale ale. Can anyone who’s used them give some feedback on grain crush (l use a G40) and quality? Thanks R

    Recomendtion on a 10l fermenter

My only gripe with the 20l version I have is that you can only ferment 18l in it, so really about 16-17l of beer at the end. By my reconning you’ll then only get about 7 from the 10l?

    Recomendtion on a 10l fermenter

I’ve been using coopers fermenters for years and love them. I managed to get a hold of one of their 10l craft fermenters a few months back and it’s great. https://innhousebrewery.co.uk/collections/all/products/coopers-fermenter-5gal?_pos=2&_sid=a31377a29&_ss=r

    Glasgow CO2

I use Lothian, no idea what M&S use. Most places do Swaps rather than refills, I’d recommend calling Home - Lothian Supply Company Ltd in Livingston.

    Corny Keg but no fridge

I just saw this on instagram from nakedkeg (I’d recommend them). One of these flow controls with a ball lock rather than the prv is similar to one of my setups, although I use the older stainless steel kegland flow control

    Corny Keg but no fridge

A party tap will be fine, you just need to adjust the pressure to suit. A meter if 3/16 line at a low serving pressure of say 3-5 psi should work.

    Corny Keg but no fridge

I’d recommend cornies for bulk storage and use Kegland carbonation caps and t-piece on 3l Pepsi bottles (Iceland sell them). I have 3 of these I use and also 2x5l ss kegs. Tbh the ss mini Kegs are no better…..and about 50x more expensive! You can also see the level inside the Pepsi bottle...

    Question for G40 users

I’ve added a simple tap with a hozelock connection. Works great for both filling with strike water and cleaning.

Smoked IPA! Something a bit different from my usual but it’s turned rather nice! Not as m bitter as I thought I’d be, more like a smoked Porter but lovely.

    Dry hopping equipment

I’ve got one but it fell apart after about a dozen brews. I now use the veg mesh sacks from Asda and find them much better, and a lot cheaper! I turn them inside out to make cleaning easier, they are also great for boiling hops.

    Grainfather or not?

As others have said, everyone has different budgets and needs! Budget is really important, not just to start but ongoing as it can be an addictive hobby! I went from kits to kegging, then BIAB with a cygnet boiler, fermentation fridge, pressure fermenting, then to G40 a few years later as well...
