    What razor do you use.

Phillips electric job. Since lock down and now that I'm on a 3/2 work from home pattern I tend not to shave from Thursday until Monday as I'm either working from home or it's the weekend.

St Peters Ruby Red Ale how to change its taste?

I have one of these on draught at the moment. It's nice enough but not anything special, just a good session ale and doesn't have any particularly distinctive flavours. There's no way adding coffee to it would work, I'd only consider doing that to a stout or porter. If you want to enhance...

    Emergency alert

Yep IDMobile which uses Three. Son's is on Lebara though which I think is on Vodafone, he might have switched his phone off though 😕

    5 Live - In my opinion (24/4)

Largely depends on the screen technology. Plasma and now OLED have pretty large viewing angles so watching a bit from the side doesn't really make much difference. Cheap and nasty LCD panels will suffer a significant loss of picture quality as you angle away from the centre point. And yes in...

    Emergency alert

No alert on any of the 3 mobiles we have between us at home. The wife and I are on the same network so might account for ours but my son is on a different one and didn't get it either.

    5 Live - In my opinion (24/4)

Centre of the screen should roughly be at eye level from your viewing position (i.e. the sofa) but a bit either way is ok. You also need to account for the fact that it's probably not just you watching it and members of your family maybe taller or shorter so somewhere in the middle for...

    How many units [poll]

Wow didn't realise it dropped to 8 units. I drink Thursday to Sunday evenings, of an evening typically the wife and I will share a bottle of wine with dinner (5 units) and I'll probably have a couple of beers so that's my quota gone in a night. The weeks worth puts me into the over 35 units...

    Linux HomeAssistant

Interesting. I do have a Pi at home running Home Assistant, at the moment I don't really utilise it fully I just have a couple of Zigbee devices and a Zigbee dongle for it to turn a few lights on and off. I have bigger plans if I get some free time in future. Hadn't really though about...

Warning as police trial stealth speed camera vans, painted matte grey

Thought all new cars were getting fitted with GPS based limiters soon anyway. Can do away with speed cameras altogether then as it will be impossible to speed 😝 Driving is no longer something for pleasure or fun. Used to enjoy a good B road blast in my Impreza but these days you have to be...

    In my opinion today

Well it's another bit of American stuff that has crept into British culture to some degree. Personally I'm not averse to them, we quite often have them when having a fry up at home and I wouldn't turn my nose up at them from a hotel breakfast buffet or if served as part of a full English in a...

Whats the best serving pressure for stout.

I'd suggest not 36/38 psi unless you want to serve a pint of very fizzy and frothy stout. I currently have a Munton's Milk Stout in the kegerator, didn't really give it any thought as to what pressure to serve it at and just went for what I'd usually use for ales of around 8psi. It pours with...

    Razorback IPA

You can get all sorts of odd smells from fermenting, the eggy one is not unusual. Nothing to worry about and it will pass.

    Oxebar kegs not holding pressure.

What I was going to say, pressure it all up and stick it underwater. Any leak will be quite evident.

Pub beer/Kit beer taste alike list

Festival German Weiss = Franziskaner / Erdinger / etc. Similar to most cloudy Weissbier, I struggle to tell them apart but I don't drink it that often. A mate who does drink quite a bit of Weiss couldn't believe it was homebrew when I gave him a pint.

What have you been smoking on bbq?

Three racks of Morrisons ribs shortly before being devoured by my family last Sunday. 321 method on the Kamado with a chunk of apple wood and a whisky barrel oak stave for smoke. So good:

    Gizmo of the week

Probably better than my 1L PET bottle + carbonation cap that I just squeeze to force whatever chemical I want through my beer lines.. The bottle looks like it has seen better days but it's hanging in there 😁

    Early internet.

Those were the days 😆 I was spoilt somewhat as my first experiences of the Internet where at Uni on the JANET backbone. Used to use Gopher to download public domain stuff for my Amiga. But on leaving I had dial up at home like everyone else. V.90 (or 91/2) modem was where it peaked 56kbps...

ANGEL HOMEBREW - KEGLAND OXEBAR 8L PET KEG SETUPS

Likewise. Need 4L, ideal for the shortfall between a 23L kit and a 19L corny. But good news is they possibly exist, just shows out of stock on the main Kegland web site so might be a while before we get them over here: 4L Oxebar Multilayer Keg Ball Lock Tapping Draught Pack (PCO38 )

Which gas line connector to use when force carbonating

Always thought the shake / roll method was way too much hassle for any time it might save. I can be drinking beer in around a week just by burst carbonating for 24 hours at 40psi then dropping the pressure to whatever is needed to get the right carbonation and serving pressure, typically around...
