    Brewnaldos brewday

Well the rest of the brewday went smoothly, but I was a few points short. I think I maybe went a little bit high on water volume in the mash.... Maybe. Anyway, no matter, slight gravity adjustment with some LME I had on hand and were just waiting on the wort temp dropping slightly before...

    Brewnaldos brewday

Brewday for my GH Munich Helles commenced at 0700. I was probably 45 minutes into the mash when I noted a potential **** up.... I check and add heat to my mash intermittently, stirring and monitoring temp at the top to keep at 65, with the digiboil thermostat set to 70..... Except this time I...

Crossmyloof "Hell" Lager Yeast - opinions

Kentucky seems to have been their recommended/go to for this style for a while now. I made a Kolsch with it recently. It was pretty good.

Coopers Irish Stout with a twist...

If you used a lager yeast at ale temps you're probably not far away from a Tropical Stout there.

    CML

Oh dear. Thats a shame. Hope they leave their recipe sheets online.

    Brewnaldos brewday

Popped stage 1 (1 litre of LME wort) of a starter on there. I am making GH Munich Helles, but I have Wyeast Munich II instead of Copenhagen. GEB seemed to have a real dearth of liquid yeasts the other week when I ordered. I imagine a Munich Yeast in a Munich Helles should surely be an ample...

What have you been smoking on bbq?

@Alastair70 I have looked but struggling to find.... Who was the mib you recommended for buying your smoking wood from?

    My post, Pink army

It doesn't matter if there are genetic instincts at play. You can quite literally think whatever you want. You might even think yourself superior to any number of people, because of any number of protected characteristics they may have. The problem is, and always has been, allowing these...

Pressure dials when cylinder turned off- do I have a leak?

Is there enough CO2 in a 6kg bottle to create a dangerously oxygen deficient atmosphere in a garage or similar space?

Pressure dials when cylinder turned off- do I have a leak?

The breathing apparatus thing is/and has been for years, taught to me as normal donning procedure by trained firefighters at me work. Whether fire and rescue at large use it I couldn't say. I could find out though. As for processing plant, leak tests are generally done using nitrogen with...

    Brewnaldos brewday

The CML Kolsch is finished and has now been replaced in the keg by an imperial stout. Flavoured with Vanilla (2 pods) and Hazelnut (foodie flavours.) Out the FV I would say early.indication is that neither are really punching through. The stout itself didn't taste amazing, but I have learned...

Pressure dials when cylinder turned off- do I have a leak?

Never hurts to stay vigilant on these things of course.... I have experience of replacing a bottle that had carbed a grand total of about 4 beers due to a shortfall of said vigilance 🤣

Pressure dials when cylinder turned off- do I have a leak?

10 bar an minute from the tiny volume of the lines equates to basically hee haw from the comparatively massive volume of the bottle. That's the point I was making. It's about volume. You will visibly see a decay in almost any high pressure, low volume system, especially one made up with push...

Pressure dials when cylinder turned off- do I have a leak?

Probably just in the realms of normal leakage tbh. These systems are never 100% leak tight. The volume of your closed in system is absolutely tiny. A miniscule leakage will cause the pressure to drop. If its doing so over 2 days that's a negligible leak IMO. To give you a real world example of...

    Foodie Flavours flavouring

Yeah, I'm OK with the rum flavour carrying otherwise I would use vodka as in the past. I like the idea of some of that sticky molasses flavour carrying through. I'm thinking 2 vanilla pods soaked in rum, because like you say, last time I used it 1 wasn't enough.

    Foodie Flavours flavouring

Hi folks iv got a bit stout on the go atm and intend to flavour with vanilla and hazelnut. The plan is 1 or 2 pods soaked in rum, but does anyone have any idea of the sort of dosing rate for these foodie flavours essences for the hazelnut? I'm thinking 20 drops at end of fermentation then check...

    Commercial beers and their claims…

To remain on topic I'd like to point my ire in the general direction of Brewdog. Plenty of ludicrous claims from them over the years, but none more so than their entire premise of being "punk". As always.... Get it up them.
