These Ales of Wonder - 12th October 2024

I guess for most people it will be a combination of two things: - the beer didn't turn out as they wanted, so they chose not to send it in - a combination of life/family/health/work When NAB first started on comps, @JockyBrewer kindly met with us to help us think through some of the things...

These Ales of Wonder - 12th October 2024

One of the These Ales of Wonder Homebrew Comp tasks I am enjoying is sourcing callibration beers. For some reason it isn't easy atm to buy goods directly from Eire, so I reached out to the Carlow Brewing Company they couldn't have been more helpful. Here are 3 bottles of their world class...

    Crossmyloof

Hi Mashbag, they are an excellent business from a customer pov, and that seems to be the unanimous view of this thread. I certainly have no insight into their books, but as a customer I've always felt they could charge us brewers a little more.

I'd be very surprised if this excellent business was not taken over.

These Ales of Wonder - 12th October 2024

I only recently realised that couriers charge so much extra for Highlands and Islands. Do Scottish Craft Brewers ever run the tasting exam? If you ever fancy coming down to one of ours, my wife and I will happily host you - take a few days and explore. This year Vicky from Chile is staying...

These Ales of Wonder - 12th October 2024

Hi Nick, I'm delighted that we are attracting judges from overseas. It's interesting that the female judges who judged at BLAM, and now for TAOW will be from overseas. I guess I'd like to see more women involved in UK homebrewing and in the BJCP. See you soon.. Martin

    Adnams dual strain yeast

As I write, Norwich Amateur Brewers are in the middle of a 'Adnams Homebrew Challenge', where we are brewing their 'Oyster Stout' recipe, using their yeast, for judging in September. Connor (their Technical Brewer), very kindly supplied fresh brewery yeast, advising to use it within two days as...
