Calling for the duty to be slashed in the upcoming budget on March 3.

You're correct, for the brewery operations tied businesses are bread and butter, with them not having to compete to market their goods. This has been enormously important in retaining historic breweries. However historic breweries are rather inefficient and do not retain the same margins on an...

Calling for the duty to be slashed in the upcoming budget on March 3.

They have, sort of, pubs can now opt out from tie at will. https://www.clarkewillmott.com/legal-services/commercial-litigation-disputes/property-litigation/the-pubs-code-and-going-free-of-tie/ Sounds silly to say, but tied businesses have actually been better protected during COVID19 as their...

British hops in lager? Anyone experimented?

Not wanting to crash the thread here, but can anyone suggest British hops for an IPA or APA, ideally something assertive and punchy, I am wanting to bring to 60-70IBU and balance with ABV, so not your typical single hop beer.

    South Cheshire Bottle Swap

@Falco I had your 3 beers the other night but didn't make the robust notes they deserved (part fault of the beers, part mine!), your Xmas ale was amazing. The chocolate stout and Tribute were equally good

    South Cheshire Bottle Swap

@DavidB I knew I had tagged you in the original post! You only have yourself to blame for missing out on the terrible Plum Porter 😉

    Show us your dog

I take it he's named after the character from Snatch rather than the PM?

    Lager brew = Stalled ferment.

Was the original yeast a lager yeast, often those in budget kits are ale yeasts? It sounds like you've bottled with some unfermented wort. Which if you've now added sugar could turn to be bottle Bombs. I'd say you could either decant all and put it back in the fermenter (risky due to hygiene)...

    Identifying a peice of equipment

Mentioned in this thread already, but the boss buck tripod looks great. It splits to 4 parts for storage (base and 3 legs) and already has a pulley fitted. You can even insert timber legs if you like living on the edge. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Boss-Buck-Tripod-Header-Pulley/dp/B0029WN5P4

    Valentine's gift for my wife.

If you can get an ink pad and print the feet on some white paper, with the heels overlapping it makes a nice heart shape you can frame. A cheap but thoughtful gift.

    What's in your ads?

Now it's Bellway homes ad, for flats near Hayes Station. Which is fortunate... As I live in Cheshire.

    What's in your ads?

I've currently got one for these weird hooded tops that have a opening that runs from the left shoulder to the right hip and look like they are made from dryer lint. Not sure anyone would ever buy one, but like someone said, someone has to or else they wouldn't advertise them.

    What's in your ads?

I only really access the site through my phone. That said I don't mind the ads. I also don't mind the cookie aspect too much, more often than not they are a benefit

    Induction Hobs

To figure out how long (whether it will work at all) to reach a boil with an induction hob, you could use the below calculator : https://processheatingservices.com/handy-heating-calculators/water-heating-time-calculator/ Most of the time even a 2kw hob will get there, it will just take...

    What's in your ads?

Interested to see if all non supporting members have the same ads, or to what extent they are targeted. Currently I have an ad for "Gelato Delights" but often have then for "20 Hollywood Red Heads", import your own microbrewery, or a load of tatty women's clothes. What ads do you have?

    Hop Dates

Keep them in an airtight container, ideally I your freezer and they will keep for a long while. Feel free to share that information with your wife, or not... And £200 plus ingredients for a grain father sounds a cracking deal. Definitely share that information with the wife!
