I'm pretty sure fermentation has failed. Should I pitch more yeast?

Hi, I've checked the lid I can't tighten it anymore. I opened it before to look if anything was happening inside but it just looks like black liquid no signs of anything happening. Cheers

I'm pretty sure fermentation has failed. Should I pitch more yeast?

Hi everyone, I brewed a oatmeal stout on Friday and haven't seen any signs of fermentation. No bubbles in the airlock, or no foam on the top. Should I put more yeast in? Or is it already ruined. Cheers.

Brew stopped bubbling after 3 days.is that normal?

Thanks for the info. Yes they're dry pellets. I'm planning on leaving the beer in the demijon for 2 weeks just to make sure fermentation is over. So should I add the dry hops 2 days before the end or sooner? Cheers.

Brew stopped bubbling after 3 days.is that normal?

Hi, I actually ordered one the other day. It's on its way. Have you got any idea of how to dry hop in a demijon? Cheers

Brew stopped bubbling after 3 days.is that normal?

Hi thanks for the quick reply. Good to know its still fermenting. I don't really want to check the gravity. Like you said it uses up a lot of beer and I haven't got much to start with. Plus it's in a demijon so it will be a pain to get out. Cheers.

Brew stopped bubbling after 3 days.is that normal?

Hi, I brewed my first 5 litres AG Belgien ipa on Sunday. Its been bubbling away since then but today its stopped. Does that mean it's stopped fermenting or has it just calmed down a bit? How long does it usually last. The temp is 21 degrees. Cheers.

Just put the yeast in at 33.c.if it wrecked?

Not long. I spotted it straight away and put the demijon in an ice bath and brought it down pretty quick. I think it's OK cause its starting to bubble away now. Can't seem to get the temperature below 22 though. It's that OK? Cheers.

Have a go at simple AG

Thanks Slid, good idea. The first brew was enjoyable until I messed the yeast up a bit. I had a bit of trouble trying to keep the right temperature for the mash but I suppose that'll come with experience. Cheers.

Just put the yeast in at 33.c.if it wrecked?

Hi just done my 1st AG 5l batch. Everything went well till I transferred to the fermenter and put the yeast in then noticed the thermometer on the demi John said 33.c. I stuck the demijon into cold water and it's gone down to 22.c.up to now. Will the the heat be dead now? Cheers.

Have a go at simple AG

Hi, if I double to a 10 litre batch would the water ratio just double? So it would be 6l strike water and 8l more heated up to 80c for 10 mins? And can I use that mash and water ratio on any 10 litre AG recipe I make? Could I also use the 8 litres of water to fly sparge instead? Is their a...

No sparge water volume seems high.

Hi everyone, I've just started using brewfather and scaled a Greg Hughes brown porter recipe down from 23l to 5l biab no sparge. It says I should heat up 8.21litres of water then add the grains and mash for 60 mins. Does that seem like a lot of water for a 5l batch? It says the boil volume will...

Adding hops at 0 minutes. How long do i leave them?

Hi everyone, I'm brewing my first 5l AG at the weekend. It's a Belgian ipa that said I should add hops at 0 minutes. I presume this means at the end of the boil but how long do i leave them in there? I'm brewing on my stove in a 10 l pan. I was gonna add the various hops in a hop bag or should I...
