    Am I missing something?

It’s just one of those belts that wrap around it. I kept it at the top to use it to minimum effect.

    Am I missing something?

I'm in East Sussex so it is very chalky. The thermometer says about 22.

    Am I missing something?

I am brewing from kits but I don't think I'm having much luck. My first was a real ale and looked and smelled like a real ale. The second was tainted as some dirt got into it. Third was an IPA from a kit, but in all honestly looked and smelled like the real ale. It tasted a wee bit funky...

    Possible stuck brew?

Thanks. Do you know any ways to get a good seal on a plastic fermentation barrel?

    Possible stuck brew?

It is my third batch of ale, a Youngs american pale ale. My first was good and second not so good (there was some dirt in the tap which tainted it). Third is in a coldish back room (in the house) with a heating belt and a blanket. I don't think any of my brews have ever done that bubbling...

    £80.15 pint.

There is a pub in brighton that has started listing some craft beers as £5 for 2/3 of a pint. I guess that looks better than £7.50 for a pint.

    How much yeast to use?

i am making some cider. I have the apples and a packet of champagne yeast. Now the packet says it will do for up to 23L, but I might not have enough apples for that. If I have 10L of juice, do I use half the packet or all of it. Can you have too much yeast?

    Cloudy IPA???

The garage is on the side of the house and the beer is next to the dividing wall, so it should not be too cold. It is where i stored the last lot. It is mostly drinkable. I might give it another month and if not ditch it and use the bottles for some cider.

    Cloudy IPA???

Did some real ale last year and that went fine. I have just brewed and bottled a batch of IPA. I think it was an American Beers - Pale Ale Beer Kit. It has been out in the garage for a month settling but when I tried some the other day it was still cloudy and tasted a bit funny. It looks and...

    Two in one ciders

It would probably be from real apples. Possibly real rhubarb and/or summer fruits as well.

    Two in one ciders

If I made some cider, could I bottle half the batch with sugar to get a fizzy one and then stick some fruit in the rest and make a fruity one? Would that work? Any other options?

    FV not airtight?

A couple of years ago I got a brewing set up and last year I did my first brew, a nice drinkable bitter. At the time i noticed a lack of bubbling in the airlock. I put it down to a roughly cut hole that i had made for the airlock. It fermented ok and I have nearly drunk it all. A couple of...

T.V comedies you never got into.

I don't think even Lucas and Walliams would stand by "Little Britain" being a good comedy any more. Any use of Tom Baker is usually good though.

T.V comedies you never got into.

Bojack Horseman would have won soooooo many awards if it wasn't a cartoon (and actually had real people in it). Also, if you don't like "Absolutely Fabulous" then I would give it a miss as they have a similar setting.

Walk round the neighbourhood on recycling day and see how many empty beer bottles you can find.

    Brewday: Rhubarb and ginger cider

We grow more rhubarb than we can eat on our allotment. Might be a good use for it next year.
