How to repair the black rubber on top of a corny keg?

Yep that is exactly like my troublesome one.. a dusty, old, degraded, matt effect look/feel.. I did purchase a couple of recon kegs recently from MM, so another reason for the priority of this going down my list, but I am going to play around in the weeks ahead and see if there is a way to bring...

How to repair the black rubber on top of a corny keg?

Hi, I have the standard shaped 19L kegs. The one with the issue was a recon keg from The Homebrew Company. I've not actually done anything further since this thread to try and fix it as haven't had the time. I will jet wash it though and feedback any successes when I get chance..

Replacing spigot on bottling bucket with a blanking plug

Hi I've a decent plastic bottling bucket that I'm repurposing into a grain bucket but it has a plastic spigot on it which I intend to remove and replace with a simple compression type plug... At least I thought it would be simple but my google skills seem to fail me as I just can't seem to find...

How to repair the black rubber on top of a corny keg?

thanks.. no harm in giving that a go when I have the pressure washer out, will try that out... failing that, I think I'll prob try an acrylic based lacquer with plenty of masking off as thats the only thing I can find from my own research that seems to come close to being what i need to seal...

How to repair the black rubber on top of a corny keg?

Hi, I've a few kegs but one in particular seems to need some repair and need some advice. The black rubber on the top all seems to have started degrading where its rough, matt looking and easily rubs off onto my hands or other items like cloths that touch it.. Its like the top "lacquer" has worn...

Anybody re-purposed a beer line chiller as a fermenter glycol chiller?

When I turn mine on for a new brew (i do go periods with nothing in the FV so naturally I turn the maxi off), it does take a good few hours for the cooler to get the bath to cooling temps and to turn off finally. Those baths are pretty big lol.. Whenever I fill mine up from empty, I'm looking...

Anybody re-purposed a beer line chiller as a fermenter glycol chiller?

My one doesn't chugg away all the time and the cooler will shut itself down when i guess the bath is at the temp that it wants it to be at and whenever that is, the water hasn't been frozen as i've often had times where the cooler is off, but the recirculation is on pumping water up to the FV...

Anybody re-purposed a beer line chiller as a fermenter glycol chiller?

I modified my maxi to have the recirculation pump controlled via an inkbird and I've not noticed any issues with freezing and I just use water for cooling.. at the moment its cold crashing a lager and its steady at 1.3 degrees in a cool garage. (or at least that's what the inkbird reckons the...

Mangrove jack counter pressure filler cap - Cleaning

Hi, I've currently a couple of the kegland pressure filler cap's but they are a one piece device so can't take them apart and give them a good clean from time to time.. So short of running cleaner through them, or soaking them with a disconnect on, I can't think of a better way to get inside. I...

    BJCP category for an IPL

@Broken Toe I haven't actually dry hopped the one I've in the FV at the moment. I didn't want to go too crazy overboard on the hops so opted for a large hopstand instead..

    BJCP category for an IPL

Thanks, that is really useful feedback... I've got a lot of hop aroma coming out of this one and smells really good tbh!.. I think i'm all but decided to put this one into the mixed style based on your's + yeastface comments and see what the judges reckon.

    BJCP category for an IPL

Yep @MickDundee a modern IPL / Cold IPA style, very close to the new NZ pilsner style in the 2021 guidelines but using European hops rather than NZ...

    BJCP category for an IPL

Hi, The title says it all hopefully. I'm just trying to work out the best category for a hop forward india pale lager "style" beer for a comp later on in the year... So far I've whittled it down in my mind to: 1b: american lager 2a: international pale lager 21b: specialty IPA 34c: experimental...

Is a Blow-off Tube Actually Necessary?

I always use a blow off tube ever since a few years ago I had a 8%+ black IIPA blow the cap + airlock clean off and made a mess everywhere. Couple with the fact that prior to that i've had fermentations push all the star san out the airlock as well I made the switch to a tube and not looked back..

Big beer is selling off their UK Craft Beer breweries?

Couldn't agree more.. I absolutely loved the grapefruit hit of this IPA in the early days of it and regularly purchased it, but now it really does taste cheap with a fake grapefruit flavouring..
